Anyone ever had this happen or heard of?

My female is 3 yrs old an never been bred. She just went through her heat cycle this past Jan. (Wanted to breed but didn't happen) Anyways she is back in heat little over 90 days later!

My female bulldog just passed through her cycle. Is it possible she through my hound back in this soon?

I know my dog knowledge well, BUT never heard of this?

I'd like your guys feed back good or bad!!!

Thanks

hounds in heat

I get on here all time! I've come to realize most people on here seem to ignore the people they don't know! Surely someone out of the thirty that looked had some kind of reply. But yet nothing posted!

Why is this? I've got on here and looked at postings an anyone of them I can give some feed back too I do just that! But I have found on a website a minute ago that it is very possible my female bull pulled her in just like the human species. But to anyone who might post a reply thanks!!!!

To the ones who have experienced this an keep traveling on through. You'd be a better houndsmen taking the time to give advice an opinions to us who get on here to seek out your advice whatever it may be.
People get on here to seek advice from you old timers who have done this for along time and become better at this because of your advice alot of times.

TAKE A MIN TO EDUCATE THE HOUNDSMEN STILL LEARNING AND ALOT OF TIMES TAKE HUNTING JUST SERIOUS AS THE NEXT PERSON

I have had some females come in when other females came in and then would come in at their regular time also. I have heard that it is like a false pregnancy. They won't actually breed during the false heat cycle. I had one female that would come in everytime another female would come in. She actually came in with another one, I bred the other female and when she had pups the other female sacked up and put out all kinds of milk and sulked around like she was missing her pups.

My buddy's female is the only female he has on the place, other than his house dogs that don't have much contact.
He's toyed around the idea of breeding her in hopes it might make her cycle normally.
He recently used Ovaban(?) and it brought her right out of her cycle. The vets said that alone might be enough to get her to cycle regularly.
We'll find out in 4 months.

I have heard that one female coming in heat can "trigger" another one to come in, but I have never witnessed it. I'd say its very possible, if you'll notice human women who live together normally "cycle" at the same time.

WOW thats crazy, thanks and will keep that in mind without a doubt. Thanks,

Now has anyone heard of female hounds switching there cycles around like women and end up all going at same time? For real cycles!! Cause my hound has been the only mature dog here till past 4 months and now my bull has had her first cycle since being apart of the family. Then I get this. But this is what a well trusted person just told me a little bit ago.

Guessing that time will tell me the truth, but always love feedback on things I'm not sure on.

Well maybe that will work for him(hopefully) Having a hound that comes in heat every 4 months would not be cool at all. My opinion though. See thats my thing also My bulldog stayed in house ALOT while in heat cause of male hounds. So was not alot of them being around each other going on. But again the hounds senses are REAL good. LOL

Thanks again.

Them triggering each other is only thing that makes since to me.

Thanks Blue Iron for your feedback as well. I have now witnessed this I beleive.

Heat Cycle

Lynn I would say she had a false heat cycle the first time.
I have seen this happen several times. They swell up and bleed but they don't ovulate the first time.
I have seen them come back in any where from two weeks to three months later.
I ai a lot females, been doing it 20 years now. I have over a 1000 pups on the ground with my ai.

hounds

wildbill

LOl thats funy but I feel for you.

GalaxieMan
I would have to back you up on what you said. Cause this heat cycle has proven to be real. They hooked up this morning.

Here is a question for you and anyone else that reads this an wants to reply.Good or BAd
My female is 3yrs old now. Has a GOOD bloodline. But what matters to me is that a yr ago I got her an she did nothing. Today she has turned into a hound an way she does it has turned her into a excellent pup trainer, that has come from others mouths.
I have a male yr old he is what some will discribe as a natural. He was six months old showed 1 dead coon and 2 live an has been off wall since. Now he got real good right before winter hit us real hard an huintin got bad, so little rusty WORKING HIM HARD to get him back where was an then SOME. He also has a good set of papers. I've done my research on his blood and all the hounds I know alot on now good and bad.

He has traits I want to hopefully mix into this female. Would make a great cross.

QUESTION??
Am I breeding for wrong reasons?
Yes performance Nominated is great, But to all does not matter, or this does nothing to makin them great hounds. RIGHT?

thanks for all replys

lynnsmith,

if your female and male have the qualities that YOU YOURSELF are looking for in a pup, and you are breeding for YOURSELF, and performance and superstakes do not matter to YOU, then dont worry about all that.

What matters is that YOU are trying to breed for the betterment of the coonhound and if what you are producing is pleasing YOU, that is all that matters.

yes, big stud names and pp && ss may sell more pups, but im willing to put a 100$ bill down that the best 'reproducer' in the united states is tied in someones back yard right now and willl never have the chance to breed a ton of females or get his name in the book.

JMO,
Brooke
