Yelp Yelp Yelgooble Gooble......

I went out this morning hoping to get some decent shots of a Gobbler in full strut. First place I went to I never heard a bird. On the way back to the house I pulled off beside the road and made a couple of calls and heard a couple birds answer me. I grabbed my camo n gloves and rushed to setup. Once I set up I made a few more calls and I could tell they were coming closer. It sounded like two maybe three birds, but once they got close enough to see I counted 4 birds. They were all jakes and I couldn't coax them into an opening to get a good shot of them in full strut. I messed with them for about 15 mins when I counted again and there was 5 birds. Not sure how I missed the 5th one. Four of them would gobble n strut like crazy but the 5th bird never did gobble or strut. Finally they got tired of messen with me and turned and walked off. I've known I needed a longer lens but now this really drives home the point. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Hey HOBO looks like you got some pretty good shots even though they weren't in the opening. How far were they from you?

Beautiful Pix!

That color is AWESOME!

I got to gobble with one of the remaining old Toms today. HE was here with a couple hens, dancing in front of the barn. I was thinking about all the turkey hunters He would be an easy shot...LOL... He is the only one left who is fearless... the young ones are not as "tame"... safer for THEM! Harder to get the good pix though when they're shy!

Keep taking pix! Heather

I HAVE ALL WAYS WANTED TO DO THAT BUT AFTER 7 OR 8 DAYS OF GETTING UP AND TAKEING THE KIDS i GET KIND OF BURNT OUT. DID KILL A JUMBO THE OTHER DAY 25.5 LBS 11 1/4 BEARD AND 1 3/8 SPURS. i CANT IMAGINE WHAT HE WOULD OF WEIGHED IF THESE BIRDS WOULD NOT HAVE HAD SUCH A TOUGH WINTER.
