I got this un this morning..21lbs,8.5" beard and 1" spurs...He hammered from the roost from 6:50am till he flew down at 7:05am..I watched him the whole time strut and carry on,on the limb!! Flew down and gobbled 8 times..I hit him with a few calls and scratched the leaves..He never gobbled again for 40 min..Came slipping in and exposed his head

This is my nephew and I with our double. This was his first turkey and he wanted me and him to shoot a double. We almost pulled off a double on mature birds but the second one was a little out of range so I settled for a Jake so we could get a double. His was 23 pounds, 10 n half in beard, with 1 3/8 inch spurs. Sure was fun being able to be beside him on his first one and he came in in full strutt gobbling his head off like they are supposed to.

I can't think of a better thread to cut my teeth on. I'd love to post a picture of my dear husband and his first turkey of the year but I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet. He hunted this bird for two weeks before the gobbler flew down right in front of him. He weighted 21 pounds, had a double beard with one being 6 1/2 inches and the other 9 1/2 inches. His spurs were 3/4 inch long. Better to be lucky than good anyday, especially when turkeys are involved.

Called in 4 this morning, 3 jakes and a tom. They got in some tall grass where I could only see there heads and started getting nervous. I shot the one I thought was the tom, WRONG. I killed one of the jakes instead. I hate to kill jakes but there's plenty to go around and he'll eat just as good.

These birds never said a word also. We've been hearing 3-7 birds gobbling on the roost every morning but when they hit the ground it's like you flipped a light switch! Nothing! There not responding to the calls much at all yet.

Over slept this morning woke up at 6:15 grabbed my Stuff and drove about ten miles to my farm. Got my camo on and walked across a field and a crow called and he gobbled down in the valley ahead of me. I stopped on the power line and yelped a few times he triple gobbled and I put my decoys out and sat down. Yelped a few more times and he probably gobbled fifty times. I was looking in my jacket to find my mouth call and caught him out of the corner of my eye already on the pipeline in full strut. He saw the hen decoy broke and sprinted and opened back up in full strut about 15 yards in front of me and the rest is history. Oh and by the way now it is 6:50 lol what a gravy hunt wish they were all like this one. He weighed a little over 25 lbs 11 inch beard and 1 1/2 inch spurs and was all by hisself.

Called in 2 big gobblers for my dad. He shot one within 10 feet of where I killed my bird Friday. His was about 18-19 pounds with a 11 1/2 in. beard and 1 in. spurs.
