To All SC Coon Clubs:
The Appalachian Houndsmen Association would once again like to invite your club to hold a SC Governor's Cup qualifying event (hunt and show). In our earlier attempts to get clubs in SC to hold these events, the support has been minimal for three reasons:
1. SC clubs could not afford to pay the $125 membership to join the AHA
2. SC clubs were already members of the SC Coonhunters Association and didn’t feel the
need to join the AHA
3. Some SC clubs feel like we are in competition with or do not support the
SC Coonhunters Association
In reality, the AHA strongly supports the efforts and operations of the SCCHA. We only want to help and support them in any fashion that we are needed.
The entire reasoning behind these events was to give clubs a reason to have a larger draw to a hunt and show. In turn, the club would join the AHA providing us with more members as well as money to purchase awards for the finals. We had hoped that the extra dogs entered in the qualifying hunts and shows would more than pay for the membership.
In order to rectify these issues, we are once again extending our hand and inviting your club to hold a qualifier. We hope that the requirements are more suitable now and the support might be stronger from our SC clubs.
New Requirements for SC Governor's Cup Qualifier
1. Host club uses one of their UKC or AKC dates
2. Host club must be a member of the SCCHA
3. Club must pay only $50 to the AHA in order to host a qualifier
4. Dogs that qualify must join the AHA in order to hunt or show in the finals. The finals are to be held by Spartanburg Coon Hunters in Pauline, SC in December 2010. You DO NOT have to be a member of AHA to hunt or show in a qualifier.
We need 7 more qualifiers to meet our 10 qualifier requirement. The AHA asks for your support and hope that this will be a lot of fun for everyone.
