" Off Topic " A Different Look @ Bears

I had the opportunity to go to work with my son today. That in it self makes for a GREAT DAY. Mike ( my son) has one of the best jobs a outdoors person could ask for. He works for our state Fish & Wildlife.
I was invited along to check on some local bears. A bad day working with your son sure beats a good day @ work !!!!!

Jim

Awesome!

A great opportunity that most of us will never get. As hunters we see wildlife through the scope. As conservationists, its always a miracle of nature to see Gods work in his creatures of all ages. A great way to spend the day with your son. Your a lucky man.

I didn't think he was too old. His eyes are still blue.

Nice Post !

Chris ,

Your absolutely right ! I am very fortunate and appreciate every opportunity to do things with both my kids.
Another once in a life time experience was a eagle banding day.

Never would believe I could get so excited about things ,this point in my life

Jim

Sow had a little help

Ray,
would you believe me if I said we asked the sow if it was okay LOL
The sow was tranquilized so that her telemetry collar could be checked.

I can't decide if I'd have been more afraid of mama bear or that eagle's beak...

COOL!

That looks like a BLAST! Wonderful work and a Great way to be close to nature for sure!
I am deathly afraid of bears so the sow would be the one I'd be more scared of...LOL... That said.... I still bear the scars from my TAME Scarlet Macaw on my arm... "love nips" SO... I wouldn't want that GORGEOUS Eagle to latch on...but I would still love to handle one...
Your son's is awesome and it is so great you get to share it with him from time to time!

Bob loved the pix and story too. HappyHunting etc, Heather

PA Game Cmmission has a very good bear movie out. It's called "On the Trail of the PA Black Bear". Have you ever seen it? It is very good and does a similar type research documentary as Jim was a part of.
