Coon bite

I caught a coon yesterday. I was tryin to put him in a rollin cage for my pup and some how he bit me. I no he was just pissed off and scared. He was fat and health lookin. He got away after he bit me. He really didnt break the skin. It more or less just mashed the crap out of my finger. I dont no how many of you have been bit by a cat fish but thats kind of what it looks and feels like. Im just wonderin should I be worried or not. I wasnt worried till my wife got to pushin it and now its got me worried. Like I said he acted like any other coon ive ever caught and he was fat and health lookin. I looked on the internet and it said the incubation period was 2 to 3 months to a year in humans and and not much less than that for coons. I dont no I think it may be somthin im worryin about that I shouldnt worry about. What do yall think. Anyone ever had this problem. I aint tryin to go get the shots if I aint got to I hear theyre ruff.

Best thing you could do is ask your doctor, but if it didn't break the skin in any way I would guess you would be safe, but ask your doctor.

Rabbitman I feel for ya, when something like this happens someone always gets ya thinking the worse. I have screwed around and got myself bit by just about every critter out there but never contracted a disease. You should go see a doctor for peace of mind, your wife will unchain yu from the tree out back too. Honestly, if it didn't break the skin you are probably fine!!

i wouldn't worry about it till you start foaming at the mouth..lol then hope someone will put you out of your misery..lol j/k I think the rabies antidote is taken orally now, not sure but just what i've heard. but they may want to give ya a tetnace shot if you have'nt had one for awhile..but if you were not bleeding i wouldn't worry about it unless you fear water and start foaming at the mouth..lol

I really wouldn't worry too much, talk to your doctor and see what they say. Frank got bit by a BAT last summer and it didn't break the skin either. I flipped out and started doing all this research on the internet on rabied bats, come to find out that raccoons, fox, rabbits, cats, and even dogs rate higher of having rabies then bats do, even cows and horses have a high incident then bats, so I felt much better and the doctor confirmed it too. So wash it real good with Dial soap or something and let it go, unless your really worried, then you can get the shots. They aren't cheap and our insurance didn't cover them.

Worrying is a minds way of getting a stubborn body to go to the hospital. Go see a dr.

Probably dosent help much but....I heard on the radio this summer that 3 people have died of rabies in MN in the last 100 years, your odds of getting hit by lightning are probably better than that...

This is the reason I keep myself curremt on Rabies shots. You more than likely are just fine after all how many coons have you skinned out without ever using gloves?
