Above the ground kennels?

What size are the ones you use? It seems like 4 x 8 is a little small, but I havent had one yet...in the process of building one, had thought of trying one 5 x 10, but the top presents some dilemmas...for those that use them, how big are they, and do they seem big enough?

I built one 4'x4'x8' with the house on the outside and I think it is plenty of room.

I just built some for use as brooders. They have 6ft of run by 4 ft wide. Personally I feel thats plenty for an older hound that spends most its time in the box anyways, and still room for them to stretch out if they choose to. I really dont feel like a dog thats getting hunted or exercised regularly needs much more room than this. but puppies and young hounds ,a little more room might be a better deal.

Ummmmm, we're talking about dogs here right?...or are we talking about rabbits?

My dogs are in a 10X10 X 6 foot high...they deserve that much.

i built mine out of 2x6s and 4x4s.i built a 11x11 deck 2x6 floor boards spaced 2 inches apart i built it on 12ft 4x4s.the kennel floor is 4 foot off the ground.i sit a 10x10 kennel on it and made two runs.it has a shingled roof 8 feet in the front and 6feet in the back for rain and snow to run off.in the winter i put up them 6x8 wood privacy fence panels.only thing open is the gates.they sleep in 55 gallon plastic drums and i stack straw around them in the winter the key is letting them out on chains at least four times during the week.they do just fine.thanks ron

if I dont like it, I am gonna make into a whelping/heat pen...but I really dont see why it wouldnt be fine, my two hounds spend 98% of their time sleeping, they dont use the room they have to exercise, the only time they move much is either at feedin time or darktime...

It keep's them clean and cuts down on your cleaning time, I keep most of my Beagles in raised pen's my coonhounds are on the ground but I know of some guy's that keep their hounds off the ground, it's easier on their joints then concrete! and if you just tie your dogs out, a raised pen helps with keeping 'um worm and mud free.

Hey TC how big of dog have you kept in these? If it was anyone else telling me this I would say oh BS. You I will take your word and build me one or two. That would be easy to load and move if a man needed to.
