(d) Prohibition on Treeing Switches and Use of Global Positioning System Equipment.

(1) Treeing Switches. Effective July 1, 1995, electronic dog retrieval collars containing functioning treeing switches (devices consisting of a switch mechanism that results in a change in the transmitted signals when the dog raises its head to a treed animal) are prohibited on dogs used for the pursuit/take of mammals.

(2) Global Positioning System Equipment. Electronic dog retrieval collars employing the use of global positioning system equipment (devices that utilize satellite transmissions) are prohibited on dogs used for the pursuit/take of mammals.

Amendment of subsection (a)(4)(C) filed 6-12-2009; operative 7/1/2009.

that is a stupid law i bet if the hound hunters got to shooting game with a spot light it mite wake them up but i did not post this 4 no one to take serous.that cost your state a lot of money becalws out of state hunters would not hunt like that look at the linces fees and all the other sales it cost the state like sale off gass ,grocers and so on.i sure wish you all good luck getting it changed,david

The AR people slipped this in

Hunters must have been "asleep at the switch." According to info I've seen & heard from the PeTA/HSUS people, they don't approve of the added efficiency tracking systems give us. Other states need to be aware of this law being proposed, as California is considered "a foot in the door" for the whole country.

Heard that the PA STATE GAME COMM. is trying to push the same laws through. Saying that yote hunters with Garmins have an "unfair" advantage.

I would only consider it FAIR if coyotes were EVER in PA in the 1st place B4 PA GAME COMM and INSURANCE CO. put them here!!!!

I'm really fired up about this one!!

why can't those morons see tracing collare and gps don't help the dog in the pusuit of game as they would do the same with or without the locating device. all these devices do is help to locate your dog if they go out of hearing, and to find the dog befor they get to a dangerous location
