thoughts on fixing female coonhound?

I've recently rescued a starving bluetick, got her back to healthy but she's always been on a chain and doesnt like a kennel.
trouble is theres a lot of stray dogs running around, would getting her fixed take the hunt out of her?

I had my Nite Ch female fixed around 1.5 years old. She has always been a close hunter and all chop on track & tree,That works for me but its not something that i wanted to breed to so i had her fixed and can hunt her anytime i want. The only thing is she is an easy keeper so in the off season i have to go to a lower Fat/protien food and feed her less. She has normal drive for hunting so no problems there. My buddy did the same thing with his as well. Its too easy to get a prize pup from someone else and no hassle getting rid of un wanted pups.
