It is not very bright. That is the one improvement that they could make. They are very quickto locate and very easy to use though.

Buckshot - I don't use the light on my Backtrack or my Garmin. Cuts the battery life on both and I find it easier to charge my hunting light...

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.

I've had mine for over a year now and it has saved me more then a few times. By the time you walk to the dogs and then shine the tree a few different angles and gather up the dogs and head this way or that way a little your way off course. And i'm usualy pretty good at getting my way back, but with this new pup it seems i'm always a little deeper then i've been before. LOL

Since I started using the garmin with an extra collar at the truck I quit carrying the backtrac, but they do work good.

Kinda obsolette if you have a Garmin. Just get in the habbit and mark the truck every time you get out and youll never be lost.

I would still get a compass reading on 2 diff. occasions we had user error once the mark was erased and once the backtraker was lost but have never had trouble out of the backtracker

I got one about 2 years ago. Still got it. Still use it sometimes. I got a garmin but for the garmin and the one collar I paid $600. For the backtrack I paid $50. That $50 was the best $50 I ever spent in coonhunting.
