I have taken it in and out. Down to 20 ft. and clear up to the whole US. Never had this to happen before. I have used the garmin for almost a year.

Check your card and make sure it is still locked in place.

That may be the probelm. I sent my hand held in about three months ago with a card in it. They sent me a new one back with no card but map details from my old card showing up. I don't understand why the state roads but no streams or county roads are showing up.

Mike, I do believe your right. I must have lost the information on the map card that was contained in my handheld somehow. The grid that did show up on the card that was in place on my old handheld is no longer is showing. I'll contact Garmin today.

If you send your unit in be sure to keep your card.

Map Detail......

There is a place to choose the amount of map detail on there. I dont have mine in front of me but I do know you can choose the amount of detail there is on the map.

I have changed the map detail from most to least on the set up map page. I have always ran it on normal.

I do believe I have lost my card information that the company programmed into my handheld. I had a card in my old one I sent in but no card on the one I received back. However, the card information showed up so I never worried about a card for the past three months.

I do believe the card information is the problem. Before the card grid was showing up on the wide screen but not at the present. I sent garmin an email to find out what is wrong.

Thats what it sounds like then. When I got my map card I bought an extra one and made a copy of it. The cards are cheap and it just takes a second to copy them to another card. But then again hindsight is always 20/20.

How do you make a copy of your card. Can you copy the information right off of your garmin or do you have to take the card out and copy it that way?

Making a copy

I just took the card and saved it on the hard drive of my computer and then copied it to another card. I carry the extra card in the glovebox and I have a copy on the computer at home so I can copy it again if I have to.
