when is the proper time to question a incident

last night i was on a cast and i called a land owner to let him know i was on his land with a cast and he ask wat i had done so far i told him i had 225... i got scratched... my only rpoblem with that deal was that they did not scratch me at the time it happened y we was standing around. they waited until we got to the next drop to say anythang. should i have been scratched then if they didnt question it at the time it happened?

if they were gonna scratch you they should have done it imediately.
however i dont believe they had any grounds for scratching you at all unless you were on the phone with another cast.

It also says that you must handle the question at that time not 10 minutes down the road. It should never been brought up. I use my phone when i'm guiding to let them know i'm coming and never had a problem. It was a way to get you out of the hunt period poor sportsmanship on their part. Should took back to master of hounds. Around here i got places i can go without callin and places i need to call ahead and i don't go expecting to guide but when asked i will. I guess it would only happen to me once and i wouldn't guide anymore. Besides if the landowner would have a kid hunting don't you they might hunt his dads land and you wouldn't hunt there anyway. The phone thing gets blow out. As long as your using it for permission why complain. I have to leave my on and answer it i'm single dad and if the kids call i'm answering the phone don't care what ukc thinks or the cast. If people use it to cheat ban them for 6 months if you can prove it.

Everytime I pull my cell phone out guys in the cast throw a fit and try to scratch me. I have been warned I think 6 or 7 times for having it out. I run a stopwatch and countdown on my phone and there's nothing anybody can do about that. Guys will look for anything to get rid on someone on the cast.

At a hunt a few months ago there was one cast of nite ch ( 4 dogs) the judge who I do not get along with (known cheat) saw me pull out my cell phone after we had just score 2 seperate trees and I had 225+. He said what's that in youre hand? I of course knew he was going to try and scratch me for it which bothered me. I held it up for all 3 other cast members to see and I told him go ahead and scrtatch me and then im going to question it and make us all drive way back to the clubhouse. I said who am I conversing scores with? There's only one cast of nite ch. He just stared at me. LOL

THERE IS NEVER ANYTIME YOU CAN BE SCRATCHED FOR BEING ON YOURE CELL PHONE (unless the cast / judge can prove you were conversing scores with the other casts) Anybody dumb enought to get caught doing that doesn't belong in a nite hunt. HANDLERS THAT HAVE PATHETIC SPORTSMANSHIP TRY AND USE ANYTHING THEY CAN TO GET SOMEBODY SCRATCHED. I FOR ONE AM SICK OF IT.

But to answer youre question if they wanted to scratch you they have to do it immedaitaly after the incident not at their convenience.

Jim, is having my cell phone out a distraction? I mean it makes no noise plus it takes my attention off of everyone elses dog and I only hear my dog.

I play poker on it on most casts and most times people never say anything until I declare my dog split treed or called treed first, then it suddenly becomes a problem. Imagine that, again it boils down to sportsmanship and in this sport very few around here have it.

I was in a pkc cast that Jerry Farmer was guiding and we had not scored on a coon yet and my dog had been treed for around 20 minutes but he kept shutting up and I know him like the back of my hand and I knew he was in a hole but my only hope was to tree him. I had been laying on the ground for the last 30 minutes playing poker on my phone and with 10 seconds left I treed my dog. He died laughing and still does.

I had a guy come in one night and after the hunt was over and asked me a question. He was on a cast and one of the guys in his cast also owned a dog on another cast. Owner was hunting in NITECH and other dog was registered. The question was this, just for his future knowledge was it ok for the owner of a dog to talk or text his handler about how he is doing. I said was it in reference to score. He said no, because he also had a friend in that cast and the guy asked how he was doing. No scores were revealed. My answer was this, I can't scratch you for talking on your phone, I can't scratch you for texting on your phone, I can however scratch you when you reveal a score from either cast. He said he thought that is how it was. People need to read the rule on cell phone usage during a cast.

what i want to know is how in the heck can being on your cell phone improve the way your dog performs ,so why is it against the rules?????? unless the dog has an ear piece in its ear and you are guiding it to the feeder bucket via the phone.

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.

So how do you enforce the rule regarding people using their phone to communicate scores?

If someone is on the phone texting or even talking, there's not much way to tell what they are sending and receiving.

I've never really agreed with the cell phone rule anyway. So, my cast has 200+ for a score and I know another cast has 300+. To be able to take advantage of knowing that I have to CHEAT and break some other rule. That is really the root of the problem, not the cell phone.

It could be a distraction if someone's phone is ringing or they are talking on it and I don't have a problem with taking some action based on that.

John, you are exactly right!!!!!!! Okay even if you know the other cast members score you still have to cheat and write the score up.

John when you are the judge or I we have the right to look at anyones cell phone if they are using it at any time. That's how it can be used to catch someone conversing scores.

Rules

Who would have thought this 30 years ago that you would have to be making rules about Cel Phones or any other kind of Comunicating divices on a Hunt of any kind wow, have we not Progressed lol I think there is a Simple Salution to this! Ban all of it from a Hunt , leavum at the Truck !! or at the Club House !!
I know your Gona say there might be an Emergencey, well there might be , thats the chances you take. I think People just need to Grow up and Tend To Business instead of looking for so may reasons to Complain......... Jmop
Rule of Thumb in life Dont do anything that might apear un-ethical or looks like a Cheating Schema. be men of integrity on every cast take the high road always and your reputation will speak for it self .........

Ray, okay ban them all. If you are seen with a phone or any other kind of communication devise you are scratched and then written up. BUT BUT BUT how in the world can you enforce it in between cuts and time outs?????????? I mean are we going to install cameras in everyones pick up truck in addition to the NO CELL PHONE RULE?

Why make rules that are impossible to enforce?

AS John D stated knowing the other casts scores is just a small step in the matter. Once you know the scores you have to lie and break 2 or 3 other rules as well.

Some of you guys go crazy trying trying make things impossible!
I don't care if they ban cells or not but if they did, it would be extremely simple to handle. You do it just like the rule against trackers and e-collars. No use while the clock is running. Whats the problem?

As to my comment about buying a stopwatch, it just seems basic to me that if I'm doing something that is bringing up a question on every cast, then I'm looking to make a change that brings a stop to the problem. Buying a stopwatch is just so much easier than dealing with questions on every cast unless you actually enjoy csausing problems which of course, some do. The only thing is I'm not aware of a stopwatch that allows you to play video games on a cast but then I gotta say, anyone laying on the ground playing video poker while the clock is running should probably have just stayed home with their mama or babysitter, whichever the case may be.

ok first of all i want someone to show me in the rules where it says "it says no cell phones at all about the hunt". i have been hunting awhile and i have had people try to scratch me for my cell phone and every time i challenge thier attempts and all they can find is where it said " NO CELL PHONES ARE TO BE USED TO RELAY SCORES FROM ONE CAST TO ANOTHER. " you see , ukc nor any kc can tell you you cant have your cell phone or to use your cell phone . the only thing they can do is have a rule about calling other casts with your score. NOW TELLING A LAND OWNER YOUR SCORE IS NOWHERE IN THE RULES WHAT SO EVER . it says and i quote......page 62 of the advisor.may 1999 editon of the bloodlines........"UKC MAINTAINS THAT YOU CAN NOT SCRATCH SOMEONE FOR SIMPLY USING A PHONE OR RADIO IN THE FIELD UNLESS YOU CAN PROVE THAT IT WAS USED TO FALSIFY THE HUNT OR FACILITATE ANY OTHER MEANS OF OPERATING OUTSIDE OF UKC POLICY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH 2 CASTS TALKING TO EACH OTHER IN A WAY THAT IS STRICTLY ABOVE BOARD AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING THE CAST A BETTER HUNT. " as you see ukc acknowledges that the use of cell phones is going to happen and as long as people are not trying to cheat it is ok with them.... mike

Easy now Jim I rather enjoy playing poker on my cell phone during a hunt. It keeps my focus on my dog. I also do it to see if the cast knows the rules and I also do it to see what kind of sportsmanship they have.

Again Jim how is me having my cell phone out a advantage? It's not! If anything most would look at it as a disadvantage because they would think that I am not focusing on my dog and what its doing.

My sentiments exactly !!!! Drawing out with guys that try to stretch or push the envelope on what you can and cannot do on a cast just ruins the hunt for me.

I wish more people would have the same idea as Ray&Louie when they said :

"Rule of Thumb in life Dont do anything that might apear un-ethical or looks like a Cheating Schema. Be men of integrity on every cast take the high road always and your reputation will speak for it self ......... "

Then winning or losing becomes less important the guy with the best hound wins and when you go home you can smile close your eyes and go to sleep.!

Jonah did you not read copperheahs reply or did you just choose to ignore it???????

How is having a cell phone out streching anything?

Again even of you knew the other casts scores you would still have to break2 or 3 other rules.Having a cell phone out has nothing to do with it.

I'm obviously one dumb s.o.b. I'll never understand how playing video poker would keep you focused on your dog.
