UKC NiteHunt Rules Question!!!

My question is very simple.

What do you do with strike points when the hunt time expires?

Ok, I was judging and that is what I did with them. A member paid 20 dollars and wanted the points circled. We went back to the club and the hunt director drew up a panel of a few men, and they sided with the cast member wanting those points circled. They said that you only deleted them with you CALL time out, not when the hunt time ends. What is the deal man, and how can I fix it?

Well looks like they weren't updated. The way they ruled is the way the rules USED to be.

Flippo's Mr. Bigshot won the Winter Classic a few years ago because he was tied with another dog for the win but Bigshot was running a track when the hunt ended and got those points circled thus giving him more circle points than the other dog and he won the hunt, that dog got second (different cast). That's what the rule used to be, dogs trailing when the hunt ended got circled.

The "newer" rules don't allow that, they say those points are deleted. I can see gettin a panel of older hunters that might not be up to date and might not realize that's the way you score it now.

1 of 3 things took place, several members don't know the rules (not likely),good ole home cooking, you misunderstood something. if was either of the firt 2 I would think twice about hunting at that club again.

I know I was right on the scoring, but what can I do, will UKC let my dog have a shot on the tiebreaker like he deserves?

Honest mistakes are just that, honest mistakes.

That said, someone there should have flipped the scorecard over and showed them the rule had changed.

You may never know if they knew the rule and did it intentional or if they were just not up to date. Personally I would LIKE to think it was an honest mistake.

You should have flipped the card over and showed them the rule, or showed them in the rule book etc.

I don't think UKC will change it now because you would have to continue on up the chain that night and follow protocol. If you did I bet they will fix it. If you didn't then I bet your dog is out of luck because you didn't follow procedure.

did you file a formal complaint about the ruling?

If you didn't, then it ended right there with the panel's wrong decision. Thats the only way that UKC will overturn something like that, that came straight from Todd just a short while back. Trust me, I learned it the hard way too.

So what will they do with the scorecard, does the other cast member get to keep his win? He ended up winning the NiteChampion hunt.

They will do nothing with the scorecard and yes, he keeps his win because there is nothing to dispute the win.
