Good Run Last Night ! Reb Getting Back On Track!

A couple of porkie runs back in October and 12 hour work days coupled for a disappointing season so far this year. Interesting how a hound progresses.
Back in June 08 when I purchased Reb he only once got into a porkie with a few quills to pull. He didn't like the quill pulling experience NOR DID I ! We did not tree another porkie in 08. Added Ellie to my kennel in Feb 09. Had one porkie run with both hounds in June 09 , with a strong coaching session things went well ,no porkie runs until Oct 09. Hooked up with some friends and ran four dogs. First drop we treed a porkie I think my dog started it). A couple weeks after that we treed a slick with a hole in the tree with porkie scat. I think the excitement of a chase with two or more dogs would pull in most dogs to the run. LOOONG work days has put a squeeze on the nights out this year. We have a good porkie population. I have had the opportunity to get out and find a number of porkies and have had some one on one tutoring with Mr. Tr-Tronics and porkie. Let’s put it this way.... When the dog sees a porkie he runs the other way. We will see how well they retain .....

Ran up to the MA / VT line last night. A place I only hunt a couple of times a year. Cut Reb on a cut corn field .He opened in a few short minutes and the coon swam! Beavers had moved in since hunting last year. He toughed the track out. Coon really put the slip on him. Not sure how much time passed but I was getting itchy to head to another spot I walked in the 200 yards to get him and he located and treed . It took me 20 minutes to find a place to get across without going up to my chest in water. Reb had the coon in another tall pine tree. Took only a few minutes to find the coon. Made for a real good night out !!
Looks like we are on the right track
