Great Article "Red Mange"

A few guys including myself had has dogs with this problem lately. I know a couple guys have said it's a hereditary problem. They said there veterinarians told them the same thing. My vet did'nt and told me it is a problem with the immune system in a dog. Some dogs are more succeptable geneticaly but it's not the breeders fault. I had a female who is not out of the line that people are saying has the problem with this.In fact the one i have related to them NEVER has had a problem with it or showed sings of it in anyway she has not been affected by it. It was kind of an outbreak for awhile i guess. Many people whoms dogs that were'nt even related were had this in there kennel. It is usualy a side effect of an underlying problem in the dogs health. Something is going on that weakens the dogs immune system and makes them vulnerable to Red mange or also known as demodectic mange. Basicaly poor health is the problem in the 1st place. The female i had was treated with Nu-stock and ivomec she recovered but..after awhile it came back and she was sick again. After some advice from a pet supplies dealer I tried Fish oil as a food supplement, and switched to a MUCH better quality of dog feed. (I won't say the name of the dog food i was feeding before just to avoid any problems) along with proper grooming at least just keeping the dogs some what clean for being outside and kenneled up dogs, and never saw this problem again in that dog she is as healthy as ever, and has tested negative for the mite that causses it several times now. She now has a clear bill of health. Several guys had to have there dogs put down for this. Here is the best article i've found on this, and hopefuly someone who reads this article can have the same sucess. Keeping you're dogs wormed, and feeding a quality food will avoid this problem in the first place. Appearantly anyone at any time can have this outbreak in there kennel if there dogs are not properly cared for. Ivomec and nu stock do help to put it under control again, but you must follow up and fix the underlying problem in you're dogs health I.e heavy worms, sickness, stomach viruses etc etc etc... here is the article..I wish i would have read it when the problem originaly occured instead of after i had already gotten this dog cleared of it.

The female i had with this problem was a 4 year old dog when it occured. I never did find out what the underlying problem was,but once i started her on ivomec on a regular basis she recovered well, my best guess is worms or a stomach bacteria or virus along with poor quality feed.
