Do it yourself bed liner

I decided to give it a whirl. I am getting a new dog box, and figured I would give the old truck a facelift. So far it looks good. I hope it lasts. Instead of using 1 gallon, I used 2 gallons. It took all day, but I think it will work out for me in the long run.

This particular product is "Plasticoat". I was able to get both cans on clearence for $25 per can. I think I may have made out on this deal. I'm interested in seeing it in 6 months. Most of the do it yourselfers are around $90 per can.

Was this product solvent based? I am wondering what the fume levels were. One idea we have been kicking around is seeing if this stuff would be usable to recoat a household shower. Not that I want a black speckled shower but if it would work and if it came in any choice of colors it might be an option versus gutting and replacing a shower that is still solid but looking ugly. Got to keep my wife happy but she won't go for a black shower. Anyone ever hear of this being done?

I would not want to stand on this barefooted. I don't think your wife would have it. Good luck trying.

QUESTION

It looks like you had SPRAY equipment to apply it. I want to do the tailgate of my truck because it's getting badly scratched up from loading & unloading the dogs in my dogbox. Could this be applied with a brush?

Yes, it comes with a paint brush, roller and a pan in a kit or you can just buy a pint, gallon or pre-mixed in a spray can. Just follow the directions on the can. You can buy it at Walmart or any auto parts store.

I use it on my trailers, hand rails, steps, four wheeler and etc.
You can touch it up when needed.

Home Depot and Lowes carries an epoxy coating made just for showers, tub and sinks. I've even used it on plastic laminate counter tops, doors and etc which is a lot cheaper than repalcement.

I worked as a maintenance supervisor for 15 years and it works great.
