Any success?

I've been reading a bit where guys (usually cat and bear guys) have been breeding running bred dogs back into their tree dogs to enhance speed....
Has anyone had success getting those running bred dogs to tree consistently? I've seen Nitro post a few times that he and a buddy of his have had straight running dogs tree pretty well for them. I have a straight running dog....running walker/trigg that I'd like to use as a multi purpose dog say yotes and coon....he's young yet(just turned a year). Just wondering if he's exposed to it enough if he'll tree? Just trying to get some advice..
Thanks
