6 mo english pup advice

this is my pup, Eli. i showed him his very first live coon yesterday. he made 6 months today. he started baying on it right away but was a little unsure so i let my gyp show him how to do it and he fired right up and stole the show. i pulled the cage up a tree and let him tree it a little but then when i turned the coon loose it ran straight for the bayou. lol, guess i shoulda know that would happen. Eli tracked him to the water with Kate but i grabbed em up before they went across. let me know what yall think.

here's eli's ped.

i took my pup out for the first time at night last night. i didnt have my gyp with me. just my buddy's walkers. first time we turned loose, he stayed with us and messed around but never got out of sight. dogs never really hit anything so we moved to another area and cut em loose again. this time they struck and my pup headed into the woods to meet em and he struck right about the same spot where they had. he barked a few times heading in their direction but when he realized he had gotten pretty deep, he turned around and found his way back to me. the other dogs worked that track for a loooooong time and never made anything of it so when we got to em around 2am we headed home. here's how i see it. if he had stayed at my feet all night i would have been ok with it. he's barely 6 months old and never been in the woods at night. but he didnt. he got out and tried. im thinking he's gonna be a fun pup to watch develop. im pretty sure he would have gone more with my gyp since he was raised in her pen with her since i got him and im gonna take just him and her one night this week. any opinions on whether i should be doing anything different? im always open to advice from people.
