Ive got you all beat!

If you ever hunted in Southern Utah, you would understand the true meaning of "tough huntin". Those lions will take you in the roughest & steepest terrain you've ever encountered. But truely the toughest hunts I have been on is hikin after dogs who have entered no mans land where there are no roads within miles and miles and the dogs seem to be moving further and further away, but mind you this is in snow that is waist deep heading straight up mountains of sheer cliffs most the time falling through the snow from holes between rocks or falling through the snow and getting caught in oak brush underneath you. Pushin hard to keep up with the dogs because you've made that quiet promise to them that if they did their part and worked the track then no matter what you would get to them and do your part. Climbing up rock faces holding on by your fingertips and cursing outloud that your done with lion huntin for good this time! But when your standing underneath the tree or looking off onto the ledge where your dogs are baying up a lion, that is when you suck it all up take a sense of pride of what fine hounds you own, appreciate the chance to have stared into the eyes of this allusive animal, and then "happily" walk away (draggin dogs)as you face the task of headin back to the truck.... Here are pictures

I,ve hunted in southern utah and it is some nasty stuff. I was always worried the dogs would get knocked off the ledges. I will say as tough a place to hunt as it is, it is also one of the most beautiful places I've hunted. Nice pics.

me and you need to get together on a hunt both our places. me and my group was on our hands and knees crawling for about 45 minutes at the least the other nite to get 50 yards to the dogs. i think me and you are too hardcore or maybe we just like it rough.

Awesome pics. Were they taken around Moab? Used to drive a truck and LOVED going thru there in the winter time.

Hey Rock creek... I really appreciate your witty post. I notice your telephone number starts with 702 (las vegas). I guess Southern Utah is no comparison to hunting on the strip, avoiding all the taxi cabs and tourists. By the way, you dont know me...perhaps Ive traveled all over the states hunting and Utah has been the toughest, hence the post for "The toughest PLACE I've hunted" Next time think before you speak. Don't mess with the Bull or you will get the horn.........

All the responses

Thanks for all the replies posted. I originally meant to put this as a post to the thread " the toughest place i hunt" but Im fairly new to this whole forum thing and somehow saved my message as a new thread. So,if you havent checked out the original thread I was reply to then look for it. Its just nice to get feedback from fellow houndsmen/women from across the U.S and see what different country they hunt.
