I, like many others, started out with a lot of Platte Valley blood. My foundation stud, Timberstar Buddy, was 100% Platte Valley on his dam's side, about 50 % on his sires side. And, I have kept my line fairly pure over the years with most of my current dogs going back to Buddy several times. I have kept some of the cold trailing, loud hound mouths, houndy looking traits the old Platte Valley strain had but I think I may have made some improvements over the years. With all that said, my dogs are Lakeland bred, not Platte Valley bred. A pup born in my kennel won 1st place Saturday night at English Days this year, so I must be doing something right. My friend, Darrel Burroughs may have started with the Platte Valley dogs, but Darrel, being an "old timer" like I am, has Grand Lake breeding, not Platte Valey breeding.
Look in this month's CoonHound Bloodlines on page 36 to see Indian Creek Wendy decendants. Wendy carries Platte Valley breeding. You will see Buddy a lot.
I personally do not believe any one could claim having Platte Valley breeding these days.
