Most guys around here are useing a bycycle intertube stretched over it while hunting to keep dirt out of it..After hunting simply peel it back and charge.. It works pretty good.

I use the inner tube too. Works good. I noticed on mine this morning I slide the charger on too far.. Pulled it back a little and the light came on.

do not use a knife to clean it! it will over time get scrap to far down and not work at all. plug it in when it is still a little wet works good too.. . yes they need to rework that part of it for sure/

run some water over it and plug it in. It will make a connection on it's own pretty quick then.

the problem is not tthe collar but the charger/the pins are backwards /you need to use a die grinder and champfer the back side to a 45 degree angle and this will let the charger go in another 1/16th of an inch to make contact/i have fixed alot and never had one come back or another problem i talked to the engineers at garmin they are supposed to change it if you need m0ore assis. feel free to call 571-233-5819 joe

When I come in from hunting, I give the contacts a blast of 110 psi air from an air compressor. They are usually damp and this blast of air gets the crud off the contacts as well as the little grooves the plug slides in.

Sometimes I've had to press on the plug one one way or another or slide it some to get the light to come on.

Its not a good design but coming up with a quick way to charge what may be a dirty, wet collar is not an easy thing to do.

Tritronics collars have the same problem and they've been around for years.
