NC State Championship Water Race

will be held August 1st at the Richmond County Cooner's Club in Rockingham NC. Details will follow in CB and Cooner soon.

There will be a bench show, State Championship Water Race, raffle and food.

Wanted to get some input about a rabies clinic and an ice cream bar. What do ya'll think about those 2 items?

Just curious...How would a rabies clinic work? I would assume this would be just for the local dogs?

a rabies clinic works by having a vet come to the site and giving rabies shots to whomever shows up at a discounted rate. for the last 2-3 yrs we've had dogs from VA, TN, SC, GA and NC come to this event. some people may bring dogs along for the ride and get a rabies shot.

WE OFFERED FRONTLINE, HEARTWORM TESTS, COMPLETE BLOOD PROFILES, AND MICROCHIPPING AS WELL, AND WOW. WE CHIPPED PROBABLY CLOSE TO 50 DOGS!

THAT MIGHT BE SOMETHING YOU LOOK INTO AS WELL!

Back to the Rabies Clinic......

Here in this section of Tennessee the Rabies licenses are issued by county...Sometimes if we go across county lines to get rabies we have to make sure they have our county tag...
Just wasn't sure how other places were...Sounds interresting. Just trying to figure out how it works on a wide range like that...

Vets here

The vets in NC that have the rabies clinics only do them at a reduced price for the county that they practice in. I tried to take mine to meck couunty because I missed the rowan county and was told I would have to live in meck county and have a pic id to prove it. I noticed that in raleigh you have to have a pic id and an utility bill that matches. They turn in a report of rabies vacines to the county. I think it is a way for the county to up you property taxes. If they have a rabies shot, you are supposed to record that animal on your county tax form.

I just spoke with the vet that I had asked and I was told:

as long as the vet is licensed in NC, it is a statewide license and any dog, regardless of where it lives, can get a rabies vaccination by that vet.

So, VA & SC dogs can come and get rabies and go home and it will be valid since it was done by a licensed vet of the state in which it was given.

We have several clubs here in Michigan that sponsor rabies clinic's , usually in the spring before our dog licences need to be renewed, since a current rabies certificate issued by a licenced Vet is required to get a Michigan dog licence. The vets that are contacted and come usually offer other shots, heart worm tests, etc.. Flyer's and advertising is often put out locally inviting anyone who may need shots to bring their dogs out for the discounted price which gives us a bit of exposure to others that don't necessarily hunt and sometimes sells some coffee and a few hot dogs. It can get a little busy at times.

IT WAS A JOINT EFFORT. LOL

WE USED OUR FACILITIES AND WE HELPED HER WITH THE DOGS.

WE BOTH ADVERTISED AND I THINK IT WORKED WELL. WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT DOING IT AGAIN TO HELP GET OUR NAME AS WELL AS HERS OUT TO THE PUBLIC.

SHE'S A SUPER VET! SHE'S NEW HERE, BUT WE REALLY LIKE HER SO FAR!
