Not turninng out due to danger

Is there a rule that says you will not be scratched or the 30 minutes put on your dog if you don't want to turn loose in a particular spot?

Someone told me there was but did not know where in the rules it was. I scanned through the online rules and did not see it but I could have over looked it.

If you don't want to turn loose you'd either have to suck it up and turn loose or withdraw.

Yep, there is low life individuals that will intentionally hunt close to highways to eliminate competition. I'll just keep mine on the lead and head for the house. If they do it to me they better have transportation.

I have not seen where it is a rule, I was told. I could not find it thats why I asked. I bet Ed wished they didn't suck it up and turn Jet 6 again loose.

So far, the hunts I have been on, the guide will inform the cast of possible dangers, and ask the cast if they want to drop there or not, or move on to the next place.

The casts have always been pretty much in agreement, and we either dropped or decided to go on.

While I am sure there are some unsavory choices being made, it seems largely the folks are giving us fair information so we can decide what is best for our dog.

If I need to withdraw, I will, and no problem.

This is just a game we play with our dogs..but the dogs believe it IS their life (to hunt) and I want to keep mine as healthy as long as possible so they can keep doing what they love to do!

Life throws us enough curve balls and tragedies, without worrying about whether I am going to drop next to a highway or not! That's a no brainer for me!

I have withdrawn a dog that I was handling at least a half dozen times. I don't take unnessary risk.

One time one handler's dog got hit and killed on the road.

This is a dilema, I'd have to say that if a spot is too bad to hunt or appears to dangerous a handler should make it known that they prefer another spot...if the cast wishes to continue at that spot I would withdraw. I don't see a way out of this situation at a single event.

But I would make drive back to the host club and make a complaint to both the Master of Hounds and to the officials/officers of the club...If they get a pattern of complaints against the same guide repeatedly it's their job to stop using that guide or to suffer lower entries as a result of their inability to address the situation.

I have withdrawn due to this reason before too. Not worth the risk! If majority of a cast didnt feel it was safe u would have go to a new spot right??
