Corneal Ulcer????

One of my hounds has a corneal ulcer. Anybody else been thru this? I've gotta put Neobacimyx in the eye 4 times a day and Atropine in twice.

yes....

we had it on a redbone years ago. it was from hunting him though. did vet say what caused your's to have this? eventually, he got cataracts and was pretty near blind when he died. we didn't remove the cataracts as vet wasn't sure he would live from the anesthesia.

Vet said he probably got something in it. We've had some pretty bad winds here and pollen and dirt blowing around. Vet said it was very small. He's only 3 so I'm still pretty worried about him.

I personally have this condition. I have been fighting it for 2 years now. it started while hunting, I ran into a stick, it healed somewhat, but when wearing my contacts, it dried out he eye and the ulcer appeared. I have taken the medication for it, but contacts are a no go anymore because of the damage and the scarring. If I wear them two days in a row, it comes right back.

Take it slow and let him heal fully before you put him back in the woods.
