Got Scratch for fighting?

Everybody is always talking about mean dogs , but nobody ever owns one themselves. What gives?. I have 2 questions and please answer honestly.

Have you ever had a dog scratched for fighting?

Was it justified or unjustified?

Keep the answers to 20 words or less please.

Well my dog has never been scratched because of fighting, but I had a dog one time that was mean and a fighter, he is no longer with us.

Yes....I have had two different dogs, both scratched one time.

The first one, a dog circled the tree...and bit my male on the ham...dog fight ensued. I was the only one in the cast that saw the fight start...I'm scratched.

Second one.... in a large added purse hunt...dogs are treed, and just as we are getting to the tree, the female that I was hunting jumped up (jacking the tree) and landed on another dog....dog fight ensued. Cast was going to scratch both dogs, but I knew who started it....I told them to scratch my dog....and leave the other in the cast...

So, while neither of these dogs are "mean"...they were both scratched one time each...one deserved it..the other was a victim of circumstance.

I guess Oak Ridge is the only one that has ever been scratched? Must be that everybody thats ever talked about rough dogs must have drew Oak ridge since nobody else ever had it happen to them. I sure am glad to know that your the only one thats ever had a rough one.

Awfully quiet post here for sure!!

yes

i handled a dog from missourri and the gentleman did not tell me he was a gator after a 1 hr and 50 mins and winning the cast i purposley cut the cast accrossed an open bean field and scratched that dog i knew he would eat up another hound on the way to the timber

i wrote scratched for fighting and signed the card on the way to that dump i knew what would happen even though i was winning the cast , my reputation is not ruining over a mean dog

The pup I had was a 12 month old walker and he was doing it all by himself and doing it right. I hunted him by himself most of the time, but when I hunted with other dogs he would fight. I have never comp hunted, but I still put the dog down. I don't believe a mean dog should be kept around

my female has been scratched for fighting (twice). the first time was about my third hunt i was ever in and her and another dog were treeing and the big male was chasing her around the tree and we new it was gonna happen. he grabbed her and pulled her off the tree and she turned snapped and went back to treeing. they said both should be scratched and i didnt know any better but it was obvious of the aggressive dog. the other was her fault she was treed for five and after about seven minutes of shine time a male dog came by was told to be handled and she turned and barked at him and was scratched. this was after he covered her on the first tree. sorry for the length but i had to defend her on the one. the other was her fault

Never had one of mine scratched for fighting.

Scratched a few as judge/cast member etc.

OakRidge, your tree jacker shouldn't have been scratched cause she didn't fufil both portions of the rule (unless nobody seen the one that grabbed her first). According to UKC the tree jacker is not agressive, if they land on a dog and a dog grabs them the dog that grabbed is the one that's scratched. That's per the Advisor.

the third hunt i was ever at my dog was scratched for fighting, he was just face blowing at another male dog he did not get along with i guess. That is the only time he ever got into a fight at a tree or acted ill at all and ive hunted him with about 20 or thirty other dogs before this and after male and female so i dont know what the hell was up that night mabey other dog did somthing earlier cause this was the second tree, the first one was fine.. i could tell he was not right and was going to withdraw when i seen what was goin on but dang the judge scracted me first. oh well. and to this date 4 years later he has still never acted ill towards another dog on tree yet?

scratched

I have never been scratched, not saying I never will though. But if I have any gut feeling there is a POSSIBILITY I may get a write up I won't own the dog much longer.

I WILL NEVER FORGET ONE TIME YEARS AGO I WENT TO SPECTATE MY FIRST PKC HUNT. THERE WERE 2 WELL KNOW COONHUNTERS IN THE CAST. WENT TO FIRST TURNOUT, HAD 2 TW, 1 REDBONE, & 1 ENGLISH. AFTER THE HANDLERS RELEASED THEM, THE DOGS WENT ABOUT 30 FEET AND ALL 4 ROLLED INTO A BALL AND WENT AT IT FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS THEN BROKE APART AND WENT HUNTING.
AFTER THEY ALL TREED, I INQUIRED OF ONE OF THE WELL-KNOWN HUNTERS THERE AS TO WHY ALL 4 DOGS WERE NOT SCRATCHED FOR FIGHTING. HE TOLD ME "THAT WASN'T A FIGHT - JUST A SMALL DISAGREEMENT".
THERE WERE NO MORE PROBLEMS THE REST OF THE NIGHT.

I got it once

I got it once hunting a real radical treedog (a few of you know which one I am talking about). A dog was jacking the tree and landed on him and needless to say it was too much for a eighteen month old pup and he bailed on.

I have had two dogs scratched once apeice. The male have only had one problem with him in the hunts and that was when he came into a tree at the Alabama State hunt and the dog jumped on him. He was hunted for 8 years or so in the hunts on and off. Had a female that a buddy and I were partners on and a female ate her up and she came off the tree to my buddy going into the tree. He was judgeing and put her back up on the tree to try and find the aggressore I guess and the female came over and did it again. MOH said both were invovled and wrote them both up. She wouldn't tree at all for a while after that let alone with another dog. I never ever saw anything out of her before that, and my old male I never saw start a fight but he would stay usually when things went south. Don't want a mean dog but do want one to stay when they stop.
