Are they good in the mountains ???
I'v seen guys stand in the road and cuss them many times , trying to use them. They can take some time to learn , but I have had a classic for 3 years and can track dogs as well or better than any tracker. I will say , I dont like the tracker strike collars.. Not enough power for me.. I like the intellos or the marshalls much better and you will need them in the mountains..I can tell you that if you give me 30 seconds I will tell you which way the dogs are AND also how far they are and I will be right everytime , but I do have ALOT of experiance using a tracker classic....
I will probably someday go with a GPS system , but at this time I will stay with the tracker..
I have oftin used it for a compass too. I wear the reciever on my belt and I put a collar on the truck bumper when I hunt unfamiliar territory , then I use the tracker to find the location of the truck. It has saved my butt many times from a long walk back.
