worms is a misconception. i took my dog to the vet because of this and the vet said its because they are trying to express their anal glands. the vet pressed on them "expressed" them and she didnt do it again. its nature's way of doing this but sometimes it doesnt work for them but thats why they do it.

Has an itch that needs scratchin.lol

30+ years ago I went to pick up a girl I had asked out on a date. I went inside, met her parents, visited a few minutes then the date and I were about to walk out the front door. Her little brother came running into the living room to me....said "James, wanna see me start my motorcycle"? Me being the nice guy I am said " yes Brad, sure!"...All in one motion Brad hiked his leg...cranked down like kick-starting a motorbike & let loose of a bigtime fart!! (a real winner in a mans world if ya know what I mean...lol)
It shocked me and embarassed the date....brad no more got it out when his dad jumped up out of his recliner, grabbed a peach switch he kept over the living room door, grabbed Brad by the arm and said "I'll start your motorcycle !!" then cominced to giving Bradley an old fashion thrashing.....poor brad, when turned loose dropped his butt to the hard-wood floor and was scooting across the living room like a wormy dog...lol...I guess he was trying to cool it off...lol....The dad looked at me and said " go on to the movies, have a good time and have Deb home by 11:30"...soooo, not only dogs scoot....humans do too under the right circumstance...lol
Moral of the story: When a butt drops to the floor...there is a REASON ! LOL

Maby there is a dirty spot on the carpet and the dog doesn't like it. LOL!!!!!

If there is not a dirty spot on the carpet, there probably will be when she gets done!

I've heard some of the more sophisticated answers, but she might be doing it just because it feels good! Hey, it might be worth a try.

Lots Of reasons...

..it's itchy from worms, it is itchy from something it ate, It can be food allergies, it has a long piece of grass or it's owners LONG hairs stuck in it's rear OR it has anal gland issues....
My bluedawg, Wyatt is on his second course of antibiotics now for an infected anal gland... this time he's taking 2 meds to try to get rid of the infection... it can actually get pretty serious. Some dogs need thier anal glands expressed for them. I grew up with a dog who needed them done weekly so we learned to do it at home(STINK!!!!)....
Lots of hairy little dogs tend to "scoot".... Cats do it too... just be glad it's not on your SOFA or BED

If it keeps up long have it's butt checked... infected anal glands are a pain in the ....................Neck

Have a good one, Heather

NICE!!!

best guess is infected anal gland(s) especially if you worm your dog(s) regularly, only had this problem once, wasn't my dog either. was very gross.

good luck in figuring it out.

LOL... I thought that was pretty funny, myself... but I am easily amused!

Wyatt has had a few anal gland issues... If I recall he did better on one type of food...but Bob had been getting lamb and rice again(without me realising it)... Hoping once this clears up with the venison food he wont have another problem... Drives us kinda nuts since... he's a house dog and he LICKS it constantly since he is so insanely clean... he also baths the BnT....LOL...
Later, Gators, Heather
