Jeff it really sux. Really bad in northern michigan. I will give you the lowdown on when we can hunt up here. Jan1- about late March early April cannot hunt up here snow most years just to deep. Then from about April 1 -15 we can hunt. Then April 15 "legal training season" is over. Until July 15 / July 15 to November 15 is are best hunting. Then Nov 15- Dec 1 deer season comes in only a fool would hunt a valuable dog up here during rifle season. Month of Dec most years already to much snow to hunt.

The april 15 - July 15 Quiet Time kills are training/hunting season up here/ we get about4/5 months of hunting up here

I know what you mean it is 0 here and we dont hardly get a season. It starts oct.25 then 2 weeks later deer season opens for 2 weeks then it gets cold and the coon den up and our season closes mar.15 maybe the snow will melt some by then . I have to try to run bobs now our season on them is nov.29-jan.4 . I dont have a dog that is hardly over 1 year but it is fun getting out and letting them try. The other morning it was -2 when we were out chasing a cat but we didnt end up getting it but still had a blast. Well I hope you get a little more warm weather to get your dog out and good luck

Northern Michigan sounds just like Upstate New York. We are pretty much done when deer gun season opens in late November. Sometimes we can hunt in December but not like this year where we have had a lot of snow and cold temps. Where I live there is snow in the woods until late Marchearly April. But then we have real nice spring summer and fall hunting. It just takes us about a year longer to get a young dog trained like it should be when you miss four months each winter. Few critters that bite you, eat you, or sting you however.

It's just plain sloppy around here. Warmed up and rained all day on the 5 or 6 inches of snow we had.

The last few days i've been telling myself just 2 1/2 more months and I can run them again. That ain't making me feel any better. Got a couple deer to kill yet, a few rabbits and squirrels and a couple thousand 22's to shoot and then I can hunt again.
