I shoot a T/C Encore. Shoots very well and probably the best part is how easy it is to clean.

I just picked up a T/C Omega with the Thumb hole in the stock. Its not my gun so I havent shot it but is very comfortable to handle and pulls up nicely.

savage

Savage makes a smokeless muzzleloader. I had an Encore and sold it after I shot this Savage. The smokeless are not legal in every state I do not believe but if it is legal, there is no comparison between TC's line up and Savage's smokeless.

omega and optima

have each. i like the break action of the optima with a scope. the omega is hard to get the primer in with scope on it.
they both shoot great very accurate. 100 grain powder and 250 hornadays. it is all we use for deer hunting.

Hey Jake - I don't know anyone that owns or has shot an A.H. Not saying they're not nice rifles but that ought to tell ya something. Go Encore and never look back !

Any of you Encore shooters ever tried their 20 ga. barrel on your gun? I wonder if it shoots as good as those NEF Ultra Sluggers?

Savage Smokeless

The best part about the savage you do not have to clean it everytime you shoot it. I have shot several deer over 200 yards and watched them drop through my scope because there is no smoke and it does not kick like TC's muzzleloaders. With smokeless you only shoot half the powder but I do have TC's scope on it.

Yeaaaa Buddy !

I have a CVA Optima Pro .50 caliber with a Nikon ProStaff 3x9 sitting on top. Throw in 2-50gr. Pyrodex pellets and top it off with a 350gr. Hornaday FPB and you have in your hands a smoke blowing killing machine! Dead accurate, nice soft trigger, no kick, shoot it once and fall in love.

The gun has killed alot of paper and currently is 100% on deer. Each time the trigger has been pulled, the deer has been harvested. Hopefully that trend continues. It's just alot of fun to shoot.

rifle

They are not legal but that is basically what using a muzzleloader these day is all about. They are so accurate, if you do everything right they are like shooting a single shot rifle.

Chalk up the savage for me too. Its a shooter without the mess. I have the old tc hawken too for fun.

hi powered - soon as they make it legal in illinois I am in...

heck belt fed 50BMG would be cool too...

My preference is bowhunting though.

Todd, I have a encore with a 20ga rifled slug barrle. It shoots good at a 100 but dont think it is as tight as the H&R groups.

I had a little trouble with my encore 50X209 holding good groups. So I did some reading and got it all fixed. I got a locker hing pin for it and a 25acp breach plug and WOW it came alive. I want to shoot my 20ga with the new locker pin in it and see if it will keep up with the H&Rs then.
