Is there a shot to get dogs to go out of heat?

I have a female that I have been working with for awhile now and she is starting to come in. I dont want the three weeks of down time and have heard something about a shot you can give them to get them to go out.

I have been using Megase(megesterol acetate) since the late 80's. i have not had any problems and bred the females after years of using it and had normal size litters. It also didn't alter their cycle frequency. You can give Megase the day they start bleeding and three days later hunt them with males and they won't bother them, it knocks their cycle out! I have done this more than once.

I used it for the super stakes about 4 years ago..My female has never had a regular heat cycle since then..Sometimes now its 9 months and then it might be 4 months..I just have to watch her..She was always dead on every 6 months before the pill..

Heat cycles

You have to get this from a vet. Progesterone. Within the first three days of your female coming in heat, you give her 1 1/2 cc four day's in a row. This will stop the heat cycle. My females came back in heat with no troubles at all. The cycle may change, such as early, but no problems at all. It will not work if you wait to long. I know most will not agree, but I'm just telling you that it works great for me and I learned this from a man in Georgia that hunts some of the top females in the country and he uses it.

Would it be safe to work her on some caged coons by herself. or should I just leave her in the pen till she goes out.
