PLOTTS LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

What an excuse for a coon dog. However they do have a purpose where dogs have to be real gritty, and mean. As far as a coon dog goes you all know they are not. Yes there are a few of them as coon dogs around, but as the old saying goes A BLIND HOG WILL FIND AN ACORN FROM TIME TO TIME...........

Well I for one like a Plott dog. If I ever get shed of these B&T's the next thing that will eat my feed will be a Plott. After all the Plott is the state dog for the great state of North Carolina (home of the Plott family).

No plotts around where I live

Where I live around Wayne, West Virginia I have never seen a coon hunter with a Plott. A lot of people like blue ticks. Around here people say walkers have the worst nose on them that you ever seen. Like I said people don't have plotts. People say plotts are more on bear than coon. There are some exceptions. I would never hunt a plott.

I could say the same for Blueticks most of what I have seen I would not waste a bullet on. Now that is not say that their are exceptions. I have hunted with some exceptional ones but these have been few and far between. You would think with the amout of Blueticks VS the amount of plotts there would be 1,000,000 to one as night Champions or decent bear dogs.

We have several Dual Champions and one Tripple Chamapion Plott in our kennel. And there are more comming of age every month. My female has had 21 pups in three litters and has these dogs in her litters. Can you boast this?

Not one is mean to a person or other dog. I do not permit this.

I perfer to hunt them on bear as I do not like to trip around in the dark.

But when it comes down to it you will continue to feed the one that please you and I will do the same.

Be safe and take a kid hunting.

Jesse

August 12, 1989. You're a little late to be disagreeing.

I love Plotts. The ones I've been around have all been good natured. A little hard headed, but sweet. <G>

now i dont know nutting about plotts on coons or bear but I do know about them on a hog and they are very good and can do the job with the best of them , they will get gritty and lay teeth on a hog to shut them down , so for hogs they are a good dog and worth feeding. I f they would just make them silent on track I would have more in my yard

World Hunt

I have no idea if a Blue dog will ever win a world hunt, and don't know for sure that there is one capable. However I would like to see it done, and then repeated not just once in a great while. The post read what do youi think of plotts I said just what I thought of them. They are made for bear hunting......Sorry to have made you angry in any way...........

John

You did not make me mad. I just think there is a lot of people who have bad opions of the Plott hound that have never hunted one or owned one.

I have owned walkers;blue dogs;red dogs and black dogs none have suited me.

The first Plott I hunted with was in Maine on bear. This dog had more heart than all of the other dogs that I had ever hunted with. He had been bit through the shoulder and shook right in front of us. This dog stayed with that bear for another 9 hours. When we got the dogs back the owner got him back on the tail gate and flushed his wounds and filled him with antibiotics, he never flintched or offered to be ill in any way.

I was hooked. Any dog no matter what the breed that could do this was worth owning.

I have a few with a lot of heart. But that one is what sold me.

Grrrrrrrr......

The Plott hound...... Well, here is my two cents worth because I have had the opportunity to hunt with many of the lines of plotts in competition and pleasure over the last 10yrs. or so. Being "Coonhounds"? I've only seen 2 out of maybe 500 or so that have went thru my friends kennel that could truly tree a coon nite after nite with consistency. Undoubtably, a many were great track dogs but, fell short when it came to treeing a coon. These were lines of plotts out of some "good" "coondog" breeding from very prestigous and well-known breeders in the plott hound circuit. I think its time to stick to the big game. Many trips have been taken wide and far to find the plott that could match the other registries of coonhounds that are bred to do what coonhunters desire most but, the attempts have ended up just how they perform in the woods (falling short of treeing a coon). Back to the "its time to stick to the big game." These plotts were great in New Mexico and Tennessee on Hog and Bear. I do congratulate all plott men on there success on this feat. However, I have no bears or hogs in my backyard and these hounds do me no good. Its up to you plott guys to decide if you want a "coonhound" or "big game hound", choose the preference of your choice. Your big game breeding is overpowering the desire to tree coon. Why? I've been to plott days all over the country and I have no desire to describe the rest of the story. Good luck to JoeBoy and those horrific details circulating about him in the competition circuit. Buckeye Bud, well thats all luck in PKC and none in UKC. (Drawn at Plott days, ouch!!!) I think I'll keep my booticks that are so very slow and cannot win a world hunt to you that are about to attack my "Go Team Blue" "If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything"-Aaron Tippin

I can't believe that anybody that hunts a blue dog would throw off on a Plott like that. As blue dog hunters you've surely heard of and encountered the stereotypes about your breed and yet you KNOW that there are good blue dogs out there.... try applying the same logic to the Plotts and keep an open mind.

River Rat, wow your friend has had 500 Plotts run through his kennel in 10 years, thats amazing. Whats even more amazing is that you hunted with all them, is he a major Plott breeder or what? Maybe he needs to switch bloodlines or breeds, honestly if I had 500 Plotts in 10 years and not one of them was any good I'd quit hunting.

Jump in your truck come on up to Onstead, Michigan friday night put up your $250 and get a chance to draw out with Buckeye Bud again or maybe one of his offspring that'll be there hunting for the prize money. If you judge Bud on one night your making a mistake, no one said he was infallable or unbeatable, he's still put out to hunt in both competition and pleasure and he's reproducing. By the way the best coon dog I've ever been in the woods with was a Bluetick, that was many many years ago and I've not seen one like him for about 40 years since he died. If your know where ones for sale that can get the job done let me know as I'm interested in promoting one, thanks.

Hopefully one of these nights at a hunt you'll draw out with another Buckeye dog she may change your mind.

plott kid i hope you didnt think i made fun of plotts heart . i said his heart weighed 30 lbs translate that . he had a big heart. he stayed on bear when all other dogs seeking shelter.. .. i think anybody that thinks a plott cant tree a coon cat or bear is nuts. i do think lot of breeders breeding plotts for ability in a pack on big game... if your going to breed for coonhounds need to put more emphasis on what they do alone.. ive seen a few were great coonhounds. i really dont see a big difference between breeds, i hear a lott of plott guys talking bout how gritty their dogs are. this isnt really much help coonhunting.. some plott breeders will talk about dogs that run to catch,,, now this is an attitude,, a dog that runs to catch will excel on any game and i dont care what breed it is.. pete

Evidently you did not follow the story on SIZZLIN HEAT and his so called win. Or you would be much more reserved about mentioning his name.
