meet or greet.

why when the judge asks the cast "is there anything you want to tell me about your dogs?" do people say stuff like "yes, my dog will come off the tree to "greet" me"?? Why is this ok and what is the rule of thumb for the distance a dog can come off the tree to "greet" the cast without receiving minus?? Did that track end at the tree or does it come off to greet the cast?

Ive had some come within the unbrella of the tree. Just excitement and wanting your praise as if dad I have the coon! I don't see anything wrong with it. As long as they go back to the tree that is.

the problem with allowing it at all is where does a guy draw the line? i was in a buddy hunt where 3 of the 4 dogs did it. now you try to decide whos doing it within acceptable boundries and whos getting minus and try to explain to the handlers.

Probably should be a rule. But all cast members should be easy to get along with. Then it will be up to the judge. Ive seen some come back 20 or 30 yards. I don't care but they better get back on the wood and not mill. They still need to show the tree and coon!

if the dogs comes to meet you and goes right back to the tree and shows tree there ain't much you can do. some guys will try but with me they have a hard time some judges think they should be on the tree nowhere in the rules does it define how a dog should tree
