Rossi rifle question

Got a rossi single shot one that breaks down and tried to put a red dot scope on it and the local gun store said it would not work with out drilling and tapping new holes in it it is already drilled and tapped but they said it would not hook up right any suggestions dont want to sink abunch of money in a gun not worth that much.

not familiar with the Rossi, but I would think someone would make a weaver style base that would match up with the existing screw holes. If not, you could probably get one made at a machine shop. Try to google it.

I put a red dot on mine, no problem. Try a different store.

Got a Rossi with a Red Dot on it. Had to special order the mount....came straight from Walmart back shelf. I got 3 with Red Dots. The little Rossi was the easiest to mount and sight in.

I have a rossi with a Red Dot. Just buy a weaver style mount and you should be in business.

Just looked at one in a gun store and the owner told me that it was tapped for a Weaver mount.

The mount you need is a weaver mount for a thompson center. You can get them at most good sport shops. I just bought one for 13.50

What's everybody paying for their Rossi? In particular the Rossi with 3 barrels. (22, 410 and 243)

Weaver makes one piece bases that are not drilled yet. Just buy one of these bases, and drill your own holes to match it up to your receiver. After it's fitted, put the ring on the base and mark where your cross slot needs to be, and then drill that. I would also never go back to that gun shop again! Drilling a receiver that's already drilled and tapped just to acomodate a scope base is just dumb when you can make your own bases very easily.
