Dog Bedding?

What is the best bedding for a hound? Straw or ceader shavings or what do you use?

I use straw in the winter, or start in late fall through early spring. In the summer I use woods shavings. I get the bag at TSC, I think it is $5.xx for a good size bag.

They way I figure it is that the straw keeps them warm in the winter and the wood shavings just gives them something softer to lay on the the bottom of the dog box.

We use the Cates Bedding pine shavings. We usually stock up at the major dog shows/hunts with it. We have tried EVERYTHING and this is what works best for us and our hounds.

I use kiln dried wood shavings(thinking they're spruce but not 100% sure) all year around for my dogs.
