What would your last resort be.....
for trying to get a hound over the hump. He can half-ars tree a turn out coon but very seldom one he strikes on his own. Have started hunting him with another dog recently and still the same. I am no trainer by any means and think I have finally came to the end of the road at least as far as I'm concerned. He can run a track decent and trees ok when its fairly hot, its just putting it all together at the same time, in the wild, not in his lap. Have tried tying him away from the other dog, leaving him in the box, and just about everything else I have read on here and other sources as well. Had an old guy that I worked with tell me that the only thing he would do different than I have done is catch one more and lock'em both in a corn crib together or turn the coon loose and let the dog go where he can catch it and let'em fight it out. Said he has turned several hound around this way cause if its in him then this will bring it out or otherwise he must fall victim to lead poisoning which he said has also happened. He swears the positives will outweigh the negatives and to give it a try cause some dogs must actually hate a coon and must get some warwounds to build that hatred in order for them to get it together. Folks I'm open to other suggestions. Any input appreciated.
