what real preformance differences do you have when you use different frequencies to track dogs. I know they range from 148-222 frequency. I have both a 151 and 216 Johnson tracking boxes and I have not noticed any differences?

the higher the frequency the shorter the antenna needs to be.. You will get a touch more range out of the lower freq. collars in bad or adverse terrain but not much. Alot of that depends on the sensitivity of your receiver unit..

The Difference Between 216.000 and 217.000 is around 200 yds at about 3 miles . +- ... We try to stay under 216.075.
While we use Telemetry for both our Hounds, Eagles, Falcons and Hawks.
The Transmiters we use on the the Birds are so small you could hide one on the inside of a reg. dog collar.

Yes their all the same and the same Distance, Battery life is different ofcourse.

I dont know if its true or not, but I once heard that Johnson made some of the first dog tracking systems.


He had been making systems for falcon hunters, and some dog hunters came to him and wanted something like that. He came up with a sealed waterproof unit and a new industry was born.


Like I said, not sure if its true or one of those urban.,,, ok REDNECK legends. LOL
