Kennel Waste

I wash my kennels out almost daily, will lime disolve the waste or is there something else I can use.

My nieghbor has a kennel to sell lapdog pups. When he went on vacation, he asked my wife to look after the kennel. He said that when she came over to feed them twice a day, to take a paper towel and go around and pick up the droppings and put them in the waste can provided. This is HIS management.

I have an industrial sized metal dustpan and I scoop it up every day and put in a bucket. Then I go put it into a compost pile away from kennel. I put a 50 lb bag of lime of that pile every month or every other month. It has worked great for me no smell, no flies, and no waste. I think this works great.

I am developing a plan now to put into a 55 gallon drum filled half way with water and possibly some lime. I am going to rig up a spout on the bottom of the barrel. After a month or so I am going to strain the contents into a pump up sprayer and fertilize my yard and garden with this liquid fertilizer and see how it works. More or less round about way this is the Chem Lawn way!!

what do you think?

you should not use dog waste for fertilization becasue it carries disease pathogens

If you do some research on the net I believe that there is a chemical that you can put in with the waste and it will dissolve it to liquid and then it is supposed to be able to put right on the ground afterwards. Also I think the chemical disinfects the waste.

I think it is mostly used in the underground septic tanks for pets.
