How Many Would Advertise

now this is just a thought and maybe ukc would think about doing it,

but how many would advertise during there specific breed issue's if ukc were to discount the ad price to those who advertise in there breed's issue. say 25% off. would they still make out all right because of more add brought in, and the more ads the more choice's people would have that may not have known about, resulting in more pups and dogs sold.

please share your opinions, and if a ukc rep reads this would it even be feasable.

i'm not telling anyone how to run nothing, i asked how many might advertise that usally may not have if something like this was offered. this was a thought as it could possible increase the number of ads in breed issue's which would allow more choices for breeder/hunters that may not know of certian dogs.

in general i like everything about ukc, they are doing a fine job all the way around, but there should never be a limit on how to make some things better. i willing to guess phil, that if someone from ukc would of posted it, you would of said thats a great idea. i'm sure ukc is not narrow minded, and is willing to look at outside opinions and use them if practical.

WE WOULD RUN MORE ADS IF IT WERENT SO EXPENSIVE.

IT'S $400 FOR A FULL PAGE COLOR AD.

AND UNLESS YOU RUN AN AD ABOUT EVERY OTHER MONTH, YOU JUST DONT GET ALOT OF RESPONSE OFF THEM. YOU GET ALOT OF PEOPLE WANTING TO BUY PUPPIES SO IF YOU'RE ADVERTISING A COUPLE OF LITTERS ON THE GROUND, THEN THAT'S A GOOD WAY TO SELL THEM.

AND I KNOW PEOPLE LOOK AT COLOR ADS HARDER THAN BLACK AND WHITE, BUT I LOOK AT BOTH, ESPECIALLY IF THERE'S SOMETHING THERE THAT CATCHES MY EYE.

The breed yearbooks have to be the best deal out there. They target the coonhunters who hunt that specific breed and most charge $75.00 for a full page ad. Of course it is only a once a year thing so that is a big limit.

Jay,

UKC is in the money making business! They would not put out a magazine every month if they were not making money.

It is expensive to publish, print, and mail magazines. Color printing alone is outrageous.

The quality of the printing in the yearbooks is not nearly what it is in a monthly publication. The glossy paper is very expensive. The Treeing Walker Association is going to put out a yearbook one time a year. The membership fee that you pay to become a member offsets part of the cost of the yearbook production, the ads offset the rest of it.

This year, the TW association offered a small number of colored ads with great success. The color ads were NOT $75.00, and the price difference offsets the increased cost of printing and mailing the yearbook....

Joe Newlin is 100% hittin the nail on the head. What all of you do not realize is: The Colored pages must be purchased in a 16 page group, that will give you a 32 page spread. That was a $4000.00 extra for our yearbook and we charged $125.00 for a full colored page, so if you do your math that was a break even deal for the membership. Now we did sell another 32 page spread and had a total of 64 Colored ads and again with the extra expense. What you must realize is if we had more that 64 pages in color even just one or two more we would have had to pay the full amount of the extra $4000.00. It is very expensive to do the publications. Now hopefully the next year 2008 T.W.B.F.A. Yearbook will be done with the new glossy paper and be better than ever before, but we will need to have support from people to advertise in the book. So if you Walker people want the book to go this direction get the ads to us and help out. But as far as U.K.C. goes there book is great and I know that they do not have the luxury of limiting the number of Colored pages and therefore they get stuck with all the extra cost. Just my two cents worth on this. Alan Kalal

We bought an ad in the Walker Yearbook and I loved it. We will get another one next time. $400 for an ad is hard to come up with for most folks, BUT I realize that it takes bucks to keep everything runnin and I will run an ad in Bloodlines when I get my pennies saved up!!! But who don't like to save a little money?
