hunt question

Lets say in a 4 dog cast, Dog A has 575+, Dog B has 550+, dog C has 300+ and Dog D has 200-. All dogs struck in. Dogs A,B,C get treed, have coon. Dog D was struck in for 75 and is still running track. Turn A,B,C into D and A,B,C tree another coon while D is still boohooing around. We turn other dogs loose into Dog D for second time, Dog A opens up. What does he go in for?

Read it good, dont think everyone knows the rules as good as they think they do.

I can see how a few could come up with 25, PKC & AKC rules. And it is easy to see how they could come up with 50 since that is the correct answer. But how would anyone come up with 75 or 100?

Dog D is still holding 75 strike... dogs A, B, and C strike in for next available position(s).

Now what do you come in for? Is it still 50?

Yes, 50 and next is 25 because he is still holding the strike from the 1st drop as long as he hasnt came back in or the 8 hasnt gotten him...

If 2 coon are scored, a new set of strike points is available.

I think this might be what bubba is getting at...

How is the hunting in Hawaii?

I believe Rule 7. comes into play. The Non-Working Dog.
If dog is not working as part of the cast and is holding first strike or second strike, etc., all strike points will be open to other dogs after coons have been treed and seen in two seperate trees, or one hour of hunting time has elapsed.

I was the one who answered 100. The scores being as they are indicates to me that two coons have been scored. The dog on the ground is holding second strike. If a dog is holding first or second strike after 1 hour or two coons then first strike is available. THATS HOW JIM!

In fairness to Jim (the rule keeper) the original post was edited and it was originally stated that dogs ABC were treed. How was he suppose to know they were split.

Coons in hawaii, ha

It doesn't matter if it was modified or not. When I posted this AM the scores were the same. Which indicates more than two coons were treed and D was holding second strike. The others are open to first strike. Notice the original post said just answer poll so I did instead of explaining this AM. I just made a single word post to bring it back to the top. Now that my IGNORANCE has been questioned I came back to explain.

Yea, the origional post didnt make much sense.

Has anyone ever seen this rule used?

I tried to get a judge at zones to apply it once, but I didnt get very far.

Josh

I've seen the 1 hour rule used one time and the 2 coons rule scored a couple times. Usually two dogs split with a coon and recast to the dog holding the strike open.

Josh, I've seen it happen on several occasions. Probably the most unique situation was several years ago at the Candian Autumn Open. I'll post it on a new thread for discussion.

bubba, one of the lowest tricks in message board world is to change the question around to screw everyone that gave the first answers. When you first posted this one, you made no mention of the dogs treeing two coons on the same set of strike points.
