My dad has one and he has had nothing but problems with it but he is a rural mail carrier and his trucks take a beating. He has a 99 Ranger with 278K on it that runs much better than his 06 Colorado. The Colorado is a nicer, more comfortable ride just going down the highway. He replaces the brakes with the oil on the Colorado. If you're the type that babies your pickup the Colorado might be okay but if you demand a pickup to take a beating than I'd look at something else.

I have an 04 Crew Cab Z71 Colorado with the I5 and drive it everyday to and from work,I put about 75-85 miles a day on it and I have yet to replace any brakes, infact I haven't had a singal problem with mine(nock on wood) I love it,it gets about 21-23 on the highway,17-19 in town, also I run a heavier tire I have a 32/11.5/15 (very aggressive) all terrain.

Bottom line is I would buy another one in a heartbeat!!!!

I had an 03 and was good untill about 40k on it the front wheel bearings, ball joints. all sorts of front end problems. My friends is a GM mechinic and said they have a lot of issues with the front ends on the 4x4. just my thoughts. also noticed when back to a 1500 and only lost about 2-3 miles per gallon. beings I only drive 10 miles a day on avg not a big deal

Bad

After 19,000 my heater core went out and had to have front brakes put on it. Gas milage was not great for a 5 cyl.

im torn either between a new stand cab short bed 4x4 colorado, or a few years old cummins. both get decent gas, but the cummins would blow black smoke everywhere!...i've heard of some problems with the colorado, and i've heard some real good things about them. who knows tho. i just about bought a 07 4cyl 5 spd. but then we got the 97' gmc.

I've got an 06, 2WD GMC Canyon with the 4 cyl./AT and I've put over 50,000 miles on it. I love it. The brakes work just fine. Its never been in the shop except for a recall notice where they replaced a switch of some kind. I get 21-24 mpg out of it.

Its an on road pickup but I have taken it off road a few times. The front bumper is mostly plastic and I've had to replace it once. Also, driving across a harvested cornfield, it will gather cornstalks underneath like you wouldn't believe The bumper hitch on the back will bottom out from time to time.

One thing I really like is that it has an automatic locking differential. I can drive places where you would need a 4x4 to go, otherwise.

Its alot safer than an s-10, with the airbags, ABS and differential.

I can't think of a $12-13,000 pickup that will give more bang for the buck.

Hows the clearance in the Colorado, in snow or driving over ruts?

I have a 91 S10 that I love, but it's getting a little old and outdated. I was looking at the Colorado's. I drove a 4cyl and I didn't much care for it. They said the 5cyl is much better. But my V6 S10 had way more power, I was really suprised.

Sam how does yours hold up to Bear Hunting. Snow, big loads, uphill driving, gas milage in thw woods, ect.

We mostly bear hunt out of our Old Toyota 4cyl, and our 2003 Tundra. Mine's gone a few times, but is mostly the event/coon hunting truck.

COLORADO TRUCKS

I've had no trouble in the mud, snow or in hills we were snowed in last year & that little truck went where full size trucks had trouble going threw. Its great on gas also it has 220 horse power & will get down the road, real quick. I would buy another one when this one is wore out it has 53,000 miles and has been driven hard on the interstate 80-85 most of the time. Dont use any oil for as hard as I have driven it I use Val Syn. Oil in it. Best of Luck if U buy one!!!!!
