keep him open

that way if you win at the classic and you decide you want to sell him that will be a good selling point a open dog that has won at a big time show would go quick.

You have to figure the competition at the big shows to be tough. Your dog at 1 1/2 should be about the right age and level of maturity to show well in the open class. That level of maturity and developement usually steps up a notch for champions and usually again for Grands. Quite often a nice senior dog will win the open class over younger pups and juniors that may well be nicer when they finish growing up.

The top show people win these big shows, just because they are good at it, so do what ever you want to do I say.

You have to ask yourself what's more important to you, making your dog a Champion and starting on Grand or MAYBE winning a big show?

I'm in no way one of the big time handlers BUT I've left my male open for Winter Classic. I've got a VERY young female I CHed to fast and now its catching up with us. So I'd say leave him open!!!! Jessica

You definitely should do whatever you think would work the best. It's really hard to say how many dogs will be in each class and what the competition will be like in each class. Everybody brings their best, that's for sure. From experience, I've learned that it is much harder to show two dogs in a row in back-to-back classes. Every dog is also different to handle and if you show them very close to each other it seems like they blend together and the second one to be shown gets the short end of the stick. It might be just me though. Good luck at the show!

Correct me if I'm wrong

But even though the show covers two days, it's considered one licensed event. Therefore if you show Friday and complete your requirements for Champion, you CAN'T show on Saturday.

Do what you feel is right for you and the dog!!!!!
