Remington cost me a 14 point buck today,Shell didnt go off but the primer had a dent in it figures it would have to happen when I took the single shot out.

That is a genuine case of world class bad luck. I have had plenty of .22's that were duds but never had a shotgun shell fail. You should save that shell and put it on Ebay. Prolly get a thousand dollars for it.

A few years ago I had a slug that didnt fire....probably didnt help that it was over 20 years old, thats what I get for being a cheap-skate.

I had a couple in a row not got off the other night. I don't know if it is the gun or the shells.

briar i would say you might have a weak fireing pin if its happening consistantly.

dont feel bad trapper. im using a m/l this year and last night i took a shot at a nice main frame 10 and shot right under him. he just stood there till about the time i got the dang thing reloaded, then took off. if i had my trusty shotgun i MAY have gotten him. im still playing it all back in my head today. every time i think about it i get more mad..lol

If I dont handload it, I always use federal ammo and have never had a problem. I've heard of Remington ammo misfires before.

I'm with MJ. As far as factory loads, it's 1) Federal 2) Winchester 3) Remington. Next time your in the store and want a quick example, open up a box of high brass shotshell loads from each manufacturer. I'll bet in just the top row of shells, you can find a Rem. shotshell that rattles cause it's not even full of shot. No consistency.

copper solid

it must be something with that load, i tried to use them, but can't get a decent pattern and had one not go off, even with a real good dimple in the primer, so i switched to Brenneke's Heavy Field Short magnums, and get a lot better results, and a few more dead deer, and to think, they want about $16 bucks for a box of 5, and cant get consistancy!!!!

Try sending it back they will probably send you a free box and pay for your postage. I know when I shot a lot of trap occasionaly it would happen and winchester and remington both would send a free box of shells.

Remington to me is junk as far as 22 shells are concerned. Heck I would need an accounting degree to tell ya how many dud shells that cost me time and grief!!! Winchester for me at least is much much better, as is some other brands I would presume. Use a 40 grain bullet and they sure crack and have that knocking power than a lighter bullet.
