A dream come true

I recently purchased 73 acres along this creek. It's all wooded with a couple beaver ponds. This is a view from the bridge, were in a drought so it will be a lot more water after we some rain. Just good having water is good right now.

that sounds cool

Is that creek bottom mud or sand? Is it a fishing creek? It's nice to have water near you, lots of animals stay close to it. Hope you have fun.

Any coons down there? I never hunted in "Bama but got friends who have and they tell me raccoons are extinct in some parts of the state.

Nothing like you have, but we have a lot of peanuts so were better off than the those to the North. It probably takes alot more land to hunt for us than you. From what little I've turned loose on it I've got a 50/50 chance of the dogs treeing on my property.

Congratulations. Are you going to live on it?

I know how you feel. I grew up on a farm and farmed for a short period after high school. I got squeezed out of that but always swore I would never try to make a living at farming but that I was at least going to be a hobby farmer. After living in town for 14 miserable years, I finally was able to buy 50 acres, build a house, keep a few cows and so on.

Within 3 years of buying it, land prices went up so much I would not have been able to afford it. Now, building materials are so high I'm not sure I could afford that, either. I still have to pinch myself once in awhile to make sure its really happened.

John D we are going to build. I'll have to build myself, I can't afford to have one built at todays prices.

I'm sure after being stuck for 14 years you know exactly what I'm feeling to finally get my own piece of land.
