I currently own hounds and a Blackmouth Cur. I have done a lot of competition hunting over the years with my hounds and I sure aint afraid to cut em with any dog including a cur. Triker, I have to disagree with you, there are an awful lot of nice hounds out there, every bit as many as there are nice curs if not more. Myself, I love my cur dog and sure hope he makes a nice squirrel dog and coon dog, in fact so far I like him as well as my hounds but he is a different type dog than my hounds and fills a different niche than my hounds do. He will never replace my love for the hounds, nor will they replace him. I do feel they should all compete heads up in both coon and squirrel hunts and may the best dog win. I would love to see it and think it would do all the hunts some good. Matter of fact I think any dog should be allowed to hunt, hound, cur, registered or grade dog. But I also think any dog should have to hunt by himself and come in with plus points before earning any kind of degree, including shows. These dogs are supposed to be hunting dogs and if they cant they are not a god representative of the breed irregardless of which one. I know a lot of show people will disagree but this is how I feel for whatever it is worth. And yes, I have shown dogs but you can bet I always showed what I was hunting.
