Rabbit Trap Questions???

Thanks in advance...

#1
Whats the best baits for summer, fall, and winter?

#2
Ever used a cover scent to spray on the trap, if so, what?

#3
What could i color my traps with that wouldn't affect the rabbit scent wise?

Thanks,
Jack

not sure about this time of year...but fall and winter some of my buddies down in TN and AL use sweet potatoes....i kinda think that apples may be worth a try this time of year...my mom threw some apple peelings in the field behind her house and there were 3 rabbits eating them the other evening. as for covering the traps and not bothering the rabbit's scent...don't have clue about that one...my buddies use traps that are homemade out of wood...they aren't painted or anything. hope this helps Jack.

LarryDean, LD Kennels, and I just built a couple pyramid traps. I have not had mine out yet but they had the other one out and had 3 rabbits in a week. They lost them before perfecting the trap but they still got the rabbits in the trap and tripped it. We were told to spray the trap down with Apple Vinigar for a cover sent and use apples for bait. Ill take some pictures of mine tonight. Ill keep checking this thread if you have any other questions.

We have always used apples and they have worked well for us, apple vinegar is a good cover sent, and the weather will dull the color of your traps to a more natural color in no time. We have not set the traps in the winter, always to busy to check or set them.

I also use apples or any other fruit and that works real well but if you dont get him out of the trap right and he pisses in it you want catch any more in that trap for a while no matter what you use too cover it. happened to me this year on two traps and finally got tired of checking them and took a new trap to the same place and caught one on the second day.
