Spider Eyes

Being from a place that don't have them and having been circled or minused a few times because of them,I want proof. My kids are of the age they are addicted to Animal planet and I have yet to see any spider in North America that has eyes as wide as a coons.LOL So,I want to know what kind of spider,I do know that Iowa is too far north for tarantulas,is being scored.

I got circled for so called spider eyes looking out of a hole in a den tree last year in Iowa. LOL I still laugh about it. I just want to see one of these big creatures, and break my dog from treeing them LOL. It was night Champions so maybe I should of been scratched for off game LOL.

"Spider eyes" cost my wife from placing in Walker Days in 1998 and we're still looking to find this elusive little creature.Maybe not with eyes that big I'd be scared chitless.Come on guys I know with all the members on here someone has used the spider eye or had it used on them but know one knows what kind of spider it is?

i couldnt have (and wouldnt) held it in both my hands. that spider was huge. i saw the eye shine outa the corner of my eye in the very edge of my light, i didnt know what it was and i looked over there and there it was sitting there (probably waiting to pounce on me as i walked back by) the body of the spider alone was about 4" long itself- no bs. i wish i coulda put a ruler or somthing up to show the actual size but i wasnt gonna be the one to hold it for sure.... lol

They don't bother me.We got lots of them.Thats a good one tho.Still twitching wasn't he?My father-in-law and I killed one,one time and skinned it and put it in a plastic sack to take home to cook.We forgot about it when we got home cause he had some people come to look at some horses he had for sale. You should have seen that lady FREAK OUT and fly out of that pickup when that snake body twitched in that sack two hours after we had skinned him.LMAO That was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

AKKKK!

Amanda! OK.. I'll Pick up the snake... even if it's poisonous before touching that spider! AKKK! I remember BIG spiders in the Mangroves on our land in the FL Keys... "Bird eating spiders"? "Fishing spiders"? I forget.. but to hit a web was enough to NEARLY cause this little girl to have a heart attack in childhood! I recently found out that my mother still has that Mangrove swamp...LOL... No One wants to buy it!WOnder how the spiders are??????
GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALthough in the picture the spider has a beautiful pattern...IN A PICTURE!
Speaking of Twitching.. we put a black widow in a jar in the freezer for the wildlife people in the Keys.... I was Supposed to put it in the fridge. Well... we ASSUMED I had killed it. That Sucker was in a jar on the bar counter top where we had dinner....YUP... WOke up during the meal! I nearly fainted! We had to keep it alive till the next day for the wildlife people... Pretty spider.... YUCK!

HappyHunting! Watch your Step! Heather

OH MY GOSH!!!

I know there was a dang reason I kept skipping over this post !!
BUT NO !! I went against my better judgement !! I will never go to sleep tonight !! Snakes? No Problem. Spiders? I will hurt myself getting away from one no matter how big it is. This one? Well lets just say they might as well start digging a hole for me !!

Reflector eyes
Most wolf spiders hunt in the dimmer light of dusk and moonlight. Their four large posterior eyes have well-developed tapeta which help them spot prey movement in such low light conditions. At night, wolf spiders can be easily spotted because the tapeta in their large eyes shine brightly in torchlight.

LIBBY!

I HATE YOU! LOL... Darn that picture!!!!!
I have a picture hung on the wall of the tackroom in my barn, life size of "wolfie" who lived in the wall for a while. The hole is next to a saddle rack.... I scared the daylights out of one of my students with the picture! LOL... the spider only came out if it was very quiet. I happened to sneak up on it and get a good picture. I can assure you I NEVER touched that wall or went to close...ever again! YUCK! I figure if it's not bothering me OR TOUCHING me... a spider serves it's purpose. IF however...it dangles in my face or...God Forbid... touches me... it's dead. Reflex.
Of course...my intellectual side REALLY wants to go on that website you posted...BUT... I haven't done the barn work yet so I'll wait! LOL... Once I get healthy enough to go into the woods at night I will NOT be able to look at this sort of post! I figure what I can't see wont hurt me... it wont keep me Out of the woods.....
Akkkkkkkkkk! hdwiredwalkers...I just re read your post... LMBO! I agree I would NOT want that sort of hound either!
Happy Hunting and Stay Out Of The Webs! Heather
