New Garmin Tracker

I saw this on another post...very interesting!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guys these work like a normal GPS from my understanding.... they show a track of where your dog has been also though!!!

I have spoke to Garmin alot lately.

These units can track up to 10 dogs at the same time!!

And store 50 collars in the data base. The transmitter are made to put on the small harness which comes with your system or be put onto any collar!!!

They are gonna be $600 for the Garmin Astro (Tracker) and one DC-20 collar.

They will ship for free!!!!!

Be the first to get one!!!!

Here is a review on them from an actual hunter!!!

sounds good. those of you who get one will have to let the rest of us know how good they are. doesn't seem like an outrageous price either.

I was waiting for steves review from gundog supply so i emailed him if he had used it on hounds and what he thought following is his reply.Jeff,

Thanks for contacting Gun Dog Supply. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

We have run the unit on hounds while coon hunting and I was very pleased. These dogs not really big runners (never more than 1 mile from us) and the unit did a great job keeping up with them.

My concern with some of the hounds (cat, bear and coon) is that some of them do run really big and I don't know if I can recommend the Astro as a stand alone unit for most hounds. It works great with a tracking collar and I think it would be best to run both. As long as your dogs stay in range you can use the Astro. If they get way out you can use the tracker.

I think you will be really pleased with the Astro. It's amazing the info it gives you compared to a regular telemetry collar.

I also recommend that you get the cartop antenna.

We should finish filling our preorders tomorrow and will have plenty of extra.

Please let me know if you have any questions. We do appreciate your business.

Thanks,

Steve Snell
