ha ha

them dogs are 4 months old and they are already trained to tree coons huh lol . thats a new one on me. but just show em a squirrel and let em chew on it, and even eat it if they want to. then take em out durin the day and they will catch on. you will have to tell me how you got your 4 month old pups trained to tree coon already lol but if it were me i wouldnt train them to do both. cuz you might develop a problem of them runnin squirrels at night when you are wantin to tree coon. but its up to you, depends on what your wantin. if you are just wantin a pleasure dog im sure it will be fine to train em on both but if you are plannin on competition huntin them any i would choose one or the other

i hunt redbones, walkers, curs, blueticks. im not color blind and i dont care what anyone says there aint no 4 month old pup in the world that is a coon dog. and theres hardly any that are 4 months old that can tree a coon by itself out in the wild, now maybe they could tree one you let go out of a cage right in front of them. but ill guarantee ya there aint no 4 month old pup treein coon. ill tell ya what if you got a 4 month old pup that will tree its own coon, i wanna see it. just let me know and ill come up for a hunt

they tree scent trails not the actual coon. they haven't been out to hunt yet. but i do take them with me when i go squirrel hunting
they don't have their rabies shots yet
sorry for the misconception

its cool

i figured that was what ya meant just givin ya a hard time lol yah they are still really young so just give em time but the best thing is to just take em to the woods with ya and if ya see a squirrel shoot it out. and let em play wiht it and chew on it and eventually they will start lookin for them

not sure if this is how you mean that but seems like im pickin up a little sarcasm there bob. and no i dont have a 3 year old redbone, he just turned a year old and hes progressin pretty well in my opinion. yah a 5 month old would be great, but ill guarantee ya it dont tree coon, at least not consistently, it may be able to stumble across a very easy track and put it up a tree which is very good for that age but that dont happen often, but if your just wantin to argue or whatever, dont waste my time, i have my opinion from my own experience and you have yours so just leave it at that

that is ture the father to my two pups are off of Ed Mead's Jet 5
so they have some pretty good blood in them but Ed Mead mainly works with early starters or so i hear.

Not arguing, but I had a B&T male off of 5 toe tommy joe and Hunziker bred gyp that treed his first at 5 mos and 9 days old then never looked back. In all seriousness he was as natural as I had ever seen. I didn't even have a rifle the first night. We were just walking along a corn field with no old dog, just going for an evening walk and he threw his head in the air winded him to a tree, set down and went at it like he'd done it 100 times. Never looked back.....I never even hunted him with another dog until he was like 9 or 10 mos old.....then hit and killed at 1 year and 2 weeks.......but I am telling you by 5 mos old a dog can be pretty solid, even by themselves.

My dad had a Beagle that would switch from rabbits to squirrel and then to pheasant if you told him to. He never took him coonhunting tho, he may have done that too given opportunity. Dad always said...."d@mn dog listens better than you kids...."

ive been huntin long enough. im young, just 21 but im just gonna tell ya my opinion and than i aint talkin bout it no more. i believe that there are a few out there that are just natural and special and can start that early. however you do not see that too often. and maybe its just cuz ive never seen it but i dont believe that any 4 or 5 month old is what i would call a coondog. thats just what i think from what ive seen ok. now if you have a 4 or 5 month old taht is treein coon consistently, thats great, let me come up for a hunt so i can see him go, and you can have the satisfaction of provin me wrong.where bouts in arkansas are you located, i live in southeast missouri, and also i dont take much to your sarcasm bout my redbones, for one you dont know me and whoever you have talked to that said i have a 3 yr old redbone taht is startin to tree obviously doesnt know me either, and if my redbone that is a year old takes till hes 3 to get goin thats fine with me, but ill guarantee ya it aint gonna be taht long, cuz hes already showed me that. people on here talk so much **** about the redbone breed and i honestly do not know why. i have hunted with every breed of dog and other than just some different traits i have seen nothin that tells me one breed is better than the other. i think there are ones in all breeds that start early and ones in all breeds that start later, but really whats the difference, all that matters is how much patience you got. and me i dont mind waitin a little while if i see somethin special in a dog

I'd train em the same way you trained them on coons

I also own a b&t that ran a track the first night i had him out and treed a double the second he was 5 months old when i took him the first time.
