Hip Waders

Hey y'all. I'm having a hard time finding a good quality pair of hip boots. Do y'all have any suggestions as to where I can get some?

Hip waders...

I have used several pair of rubber hip waders they work pretty well, but after a few years they will dry rot. 2 years ago I bought the muck boots with nylon waterproofed hip wader. They are three times better than any other wader around. They are much lighter (like wearing tennis shoes), and much more comfortable. The only minor drawback is price at $90-$100 but I bet you will love these waders if you try a pair on.

Hope this helps-

I promise you ya wont be sorry with the froglegs. Wick makes most of their own products right there on site and stands behind his products 100%. With him being a coonhunter himself he knows how to build a product that will work for coonhunters. I cant comment on the Muck boot personally but I have heard only good about them. I have my frogles put on the LaCrosse Black Bear. One thing I can tell ya you can get the froglegs that just go to the top of the boot or that go all the way down to the ankle. Get the ones that go all the way to the ankle, the froglegs really help to protect the ankle of the boot when your going thru brush and briars. I've had this pair now for 3 years. I hunt in them at least 3 or 4 times a week and use them for everything else, rabbit hunting, fishing etc. They still have not ever had a leak! I've been wearing them since he first come out with em and would never buy nothin else! I would like to try the muck boot though. Can anyone tell me if they are insulated and warm?

Are you talking about actual hip boots? or are you talking about chaps sewed on to boots??

If you are hunting in alot of water alot of the time, you may want to look at an actual pair of hip boots. If you are looking for chaps attached to boots, there are several out there. I believe Wick has the highest quality ones made, but they are a little heavier and a little tougher to move in than the lighter weight chaps. Seeing as your are from SC, heat can be a problem. I would recommend a pair of 400 denier nylon condura chaps attached to either a regular uninsulated lacrosse Grange boot, or a alpha burly boot. The former is a little heavier, but I believe a little more resistant to tears and holes. I have a pair I bought from Valley Creek about 3 years ago and I love them. I will leave my Wicks sit and wear them in all but the coldest weather. I just like to be able to move in the woods and the lighter chaps just make it easier....All just my opinion.

Ditto Scott!! My first year in Mucks and I can assure everyone that once you try them you'll never own another burly again!! Did have some heel slippage, but I may have to go down another 1/2 size or so.

Does Wick use the Muck style boots too???
I love my ole Wick froglegs and have heard great things about the Mucks. And would like to get my next froglegs with the Mucks on them instead of the Burly.
Thanx

Yes they do. They offer the chaps with the Muckmaster boot for $130 in their catalog.

But remember that the "froglegs" that they are talking about aren't made with much boots, they are with the rubber boots. They may be cheaper, but it is worth the extra money to get the ones with much boots. The chaps sown on much boots will run you about $105 - $115 from Valley Creek.
