How Many Coons In A Typical Hunt?

How many coons do you usually bag in a typical hunting night?

We very seldom ever "bag" coon. I think we have shot maybe 20 this year. They are pretty scarce around here. We usually drop the dogs 2-3 times, depending on how long each race is.

I normally go out and tree 2 or 3 and come home.
Sometimes more , sometimes less , but that's usually the plan.

I voted 0-1 because I usually only look at two a night and go home. It usually depends on how late I start, how long the drop goes, etc.

Very seldom shoot out a coon. Unless hunting young dogs that need them.

We usually make 2 or 3 drops and tree on each drop. Of course sometimes they tree on a big hemlock and we can't see the coon and very rarely they just screw up and make a slick tree. But on average we tree 2-3 a night. We have a nice coon population here in Pennsylvania.

Have to vote 0-1, but I was really surprised when I looked back at this years calendar and saw the # of times I had listed multiples of coon treed. Rarely, rarely do we take more than 1 regardless of how many are treed in a night.

Is the question how many coon you tree on average per night or how many you kill per night?

Kinda depends on who Im huntin. After the first couple weeks of kill season, I dont hunt the old dogs much. I hunt the youngins. Unless they have problems working out a track, ol Loose sits in the box most of the night. The last drop of the night is his alone. Lots of nights thats the only eyes we see.

We treed 11 opening night with him and Dolly. Hunting each of them alone about 1/2 the night. Thats the most in 1 night for me in years.

I would say an average all year long is probly 2-4 a night treed. I dont carry a gun unless its kill season, sometimes not even then, so they go months between coons shot out at times.
